bgmat…..so sorry to hear that you encountered human error with the injection – not excusable in my mind – but happy to know that you are not upset.
Does adjuvant therapy prevent cancer recurrence? No one knows. but we are awaiting the data of 3 clinical trials with the hope that we have a clearer picture:

    UK: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00363584
Do extrahepatic (hilar and distal) resected CCA patients benefit from adjuvant therapy with Capecitabine (Xeloda?

    France: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01313377
Do extrahepatic (hilar and distal) resected CCA patients benefit from adjuvant GEMOX treatment?

Based on the data of the above 2 trials, this study may be need to be redesigned:
    Germany: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02170090
Do CCA (intrahepatic, hilar, distal) resected patients benefit from adjuvant GEM/CIS treatment?

Chemo number 5 out of 6 done today. Last one before the scan in April. This time the chemo was burning going in so she put a hot towel on my arm which help. I also has a swelling near the neddle where the hydration liquid leaked under my skin. I didn’t report it and my nurse was a bit upset but nicely. I sometime wonder if they had done chemo after my surgery, whether it would have stopped the recurrence although it is irelevant now. Hope the drugs work. I am feeling like a pin cushion after having 2 blood test in 3 days and the chemo but got used to it by now.
    staying positive.

Well, looks like it is chemo time tomorrow. My platelets count went back up to what is considered acceptable. I am amazed that it did in just 3 days. After this session I only have one more and than it will be time for a scan to check on the results. Fingers crossed it will have made a difference.

I had 2 treatments posponed because of low levels in blood tests. I just looked at it like a nice break to relax and do fun stuff.
I found that once I started drinking lots and lots and lots of water, and exercising more than I wanted, my blood tests were always nornal. They said tightening up my diet would help too, but lets not lose our heads here.

Agree….low platelets are the major reason for skipped treatments. Your body will recuperate within a short time. At times physicians order Neupogen (Filgrastim) injections may be of use, but in general people do fine without it.
Hang in there and enjoy your off-time.

    Hello,

Low platelet count is normal when you are getting chemo. Don’t worry … Let your body heal. Get plenty of rest, drink heaps of fluids. When I was on my chemo ( all 21 cycles ) sometimes I would skip a week or two cause of low platelets. Enjoy the break ! I found that having soup made from chicken legs helped to raise them, although it tasted disgusting, try to disguise the flavor with potato soup or whatever soup you like. I think what really helped me was rest. Apparently sleeping it’s the best way too raise them !

    Chin up

Not to worry. From what I understand Chemo and Radiation are somewhat like the Eveready Rabbit as they keep on ticking! Try our Search engine at the top of the page and type in “Low Platelets” and some suggestions may appear. Best of luck!

I am scheduled for my 5th chemo session on Thursday but my blood test results today showed low platelets (61) so might not get my chemo on Thursday unless my blood test on Wednesday afternoon shows improvement as I would be at risk for internal bleeding. My Onc. PA. told me that postponing it for a week won’t make a difference. Does anyone have had that happen to them?
