    Hi Pamela,

Thanks for letting us know about the change in Lauren’s chemo and how she is doing as well. I know that the info about the change in chemo’s will be of use to others as well. So glad to hear that Lauren is doing better on this one and hopefully this will continue for her too. I hope that tomorrow’s chemo goes well for Lauren too. And like you Pamela, I couldn’t stand 102c either!!! You can keep these temps for yourself Lainy!!!! ;)

    Hugs to you and Lauren,

    Gavin

I reposted under the side effect section too, Marion.

Her doctor lowered her dose of Xeloda by one pill and added the Calcium and Magnesium last time we were at U of M, which was last chemo, three weeks ago. She had chemo and then took Xeloda for 14 days. This last week since Wed. has been her rest week. We go back tomorrow. So it only took one time for the difference. Her feet usually didn’t get really red and sore until the second week of Xeloda and then once she was off it a week she would get better, only to have it happen again the next round. This time it didn’t happen at all!!! I love her doctor so much. He really knows what he is doing.

No snow yet, Lainy. It does get really cold at night though. Whoa, 102, I could not even stand that for five minutes outside!!

Pamela…..this is such great and important news. How quickly did Lauren respond?
Pamela, would you be so kind and repost the above in our “side effect section” also?
    Thanks and hugs,
    Marion

    Hi everyone,

Lauren has been on Oxaliplatin and Xeloda every three weeks for about three months. She has had neuropathy with the Oxaliplatin each time and she would get really sore, red soles of her feet from the Xeloda. This last chemo, her doctor lowered her Xeloda by one pill (500 mg) and added two iv’s to her infusion. One of calcium and one of magnesium. We saw a huge difference, especially with the sore, red feet. She didn’t have them!! It made this chemo way easier in that respect. Her neuropathy didn’t seem to be as bad either. I just wanted to let you know this in case anyone is on this chemo and doesn’t get the calcium and magnesium. Ask about it. Lauren still had some nausea and was fairly tired while on the Xeloda.
