Of course Kris, brochures will be mailed to you. Just let us know when you are ready to go. This sounds like fun.
    All my best wishes,

Hi MN: What a wonderful idea! I have also participated in the Relay for Life for the past 7 years. This was the first year it was personal as I was diagnosed in March 2011.
I will take your thoughts and pass them along to my team. We currently have 3 cancer survivors in my group: 2 are on the team. The captain has been a breast cancer survivor for the past several years and I am still fighting. There is another breast cancer fighter in our group, but she does not participate yet. Maybe next year.
As Relay for Life is run by ACS and most of the participants are survivors or people who have been touched by cancer in some way, I can definitely say that most of the people there know at least a little about cancer, but bringing one of the rare ones into the discussion might help.
Marions: when the time gets closer I would also be interested in brochures. My Relay is in June but I am unsure of the dates. But you can bet I’ll be discussing using a corner of our booth for cc info and asking that we use a portion of our sales to go to cc.
Thank you MN for the idea!

Hi mn…I just saw your post and would be interested in participating…I should be in the high desert at the time (30 mins north of you), and if not can always drive there. Let me know if you need any help with researching/fundraising I would be glad to try and help if I can.

Hi Lainy, The walk is on May 19th in Santa Clarita. It is about an hour and a half from Orange County, just depends which part of Orange county they are in. It is a great event.

Marion, thank you for the support. I appreciate it. I will ask you for more support when the time comes and would love the use of a banner. I have a couple of other ideas I will post later.

I do have to find out how the fundraising goes. I have ideas on fundraising and I would like to be able to split the fundraising efforts between relay for life and the cholangiocarcinoma foundation. My mother in law made beautiful crystal purse pulls that I gave away at my mother’s BEAT cancer party. They were a big hit and I was hoping to be able to sell those to make some extra money, besides for the sponsors that support the walkers.

Any other ideas are always helpful. This website has been a blessing during this time and I want to be able to support you along with relay for life.

MN, exactly where is this walk? Teddy has a Granddaughter in Orange County and I would like to let her know about it, like when and where. Thanks

mn….I like your idea. I also believe that the Relay for Life is a great event to participate in.
If you would like to have a booth then you can count on our support. Our Karen so graciously had provided us with a Cholangiocarcinoma banner. I drag it to all medical conventions as do our other advocates and gladly I will mail it to you also. Additionally, you will receive our brochures to hand out.
In order to reach as many people as possible you might want to periodically repeat your postings on this site. Anything I can assist you with please let me know. I am here to help.
    All my best wishes,
    Marion

I have a question for you, especially for the cholagiocarcinoma foundation.

I was interested in participating the “Relay for Life” walk this upcoming May here in Santa Clarita. My purpose of this is to honor my mothers and other who have passed of this awful disease (My aunt passed away from this 3 years ago and my mother is currently struggling with it) and of course others who have passed away and are fighting cancer in gereneral…seems like everyone.

However, I was interested in doing a booth that focuses on Cholangiocarcinoma, since it is so unknown. When people ask me what type of cancer my mother has, and I explain that it involves the gallbladder, I hear, “Huh…never knew you could get cancer there.” So my question is, do you think it would be beneficial to support Relay for Life, which probably uses money to research the more “popular” cancers, or do something different?

Also, if anyone is in the Southern California area that would like to participate with me please let me know. It is an amazing event. I was fortunate to walk on a friends team (when her team mates did not show up). It was a great experience. The speaker was a son of a man who died from cholagiocarcinoma (which affected his gallbladder). It was interesting how this was the speaker that I so needed to hear that evening. The candle light remembrance was also amazing.

Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it.
