Hi Graceful, It will be my first Fathers day without my precious Dad who also passed away in February. I know it’s going to be hard, I burst into tears the other week when I went into the card shop. I am donating what I would have spent on a gift to the UK CC Charity AMMF, I have a memorial page for Dad on there and plan to donate on special dates. This way it also helps other cc patients and their familues. I’ve also brought a Dad Pandora charm to add to my bracelet and I also plan to buy a Rose tree.
Thinking of you x

You have great ideas here. I will add; watching your dad’s favourite movie, or starting one of his favourite books. Whatever you choose to do on father’s day be sure that your dad will be right there with you. Hugs. Nancy

You could ask family and friends to write a short something about their favorite memory of your dad. After reading them, you could put them in a book for other family members, grandchildren, etc. who would love to see another side of your dad. It’s fun (and a little sad) too.

May 27, 2011 at 6:37 pm #50570gavinModeratorHi Graceful,
Good to hear from you again. Yes Fathers day is a day that I don’t really look forward to either. I lost my dad back in 2009 to CC and last year was the first Fathers day without him. I like Jen’s and Lainy’s suggestion of doing the photo album and last year I went through a lot of my dads photos. It was tough, but it also brought back all of the good memories and times that we shared together. I hadn’t forgotten all of these memories, I never will, but it was good just to take some time and look at the photos and think about them all again in detail.
My best wishes to you,
Gavin
May 27, 2011 at 6:07 pm #50569lainySpectatorHello there and it is so good to see your smiling face! Father’s day huh? That is going to be a tough one here too, had not thought about it yet. What about going to one of Dad’s favorite restaurants or making his favorite meal? You could make a Dad photo album. You could might do something for a charitable cause. Guess I am going to have to take my own advise.
May 27, 2011 at 5:35 pm #50568jennifersMemberDo you have a lot of photos of your Dad? At Christmas time, I did a photo book of my family’s life with him (on a website called shutterfly). Pictures from when we were kids right up to present day. It was very emotional looking through all the pictures, but I think it was very therapeutic for me at the same time. Once it was done, I had a book printed for Mom and Dad, one for each sibling, and for a few other family members. Maybe you could work on something like that? It will be a great keepsake for you, and you won’t be able to help remembering all the good times surrounded by all those memories….
I hope you are able to figure something out. I know your Dad will be smiling down on you no matter how you decide to spend the day!
Thinking of you…

Hope you are all doing well and I’ve been thinking a lot about you all lately.
As fathers’ day is coming up in the next month, my therapist and I have been trying to think of something I can do that day to honor my dad and maybe not be so heartbroken all day. We can’t think of anything that fits. I’m not a religious person and I’ll be on call for work that day so I won’t be able to even leave my house And my mom is working that day too.
What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
