To the Power Plant issue: Ohio ranks 2nd in the nation (Texas ranks 1st) for mercury emissions from power plants, releasing a reported 7,358 pounds of mercury into the air in 2002, according to the most recent EPA data. In fact, five of Ohio’s 24 coal-burning power plants landed in the top 40 for mercury emissions out of 500 plants nationwide. These plants include:

¨ AEP Conesville Plant, Conesville, OH – ranked #3 in the nation, 1,300 pounds

¨ J.M. Stuart Station, Manchester, OH – ranked #13 in the nation, 845 pounds

¨ AEP Gavin Plant, Cheshire, OH – ranked #30 in the nation, 660 pounds

¨ AEP Cardinal Plant, Brilliant, OH – ranked #38 in the nation, 560 pounds

¨ W.H. Sammis Plant, Stratton, OH – ranked #40 in the nation, 540 pounds

Lead: 79,000 flights from small piston airplanes emit .75 tons of lead into the air around the airport they use.

Lisa Ann’s Dad and Pamela both live near the Akron Canton Airport. Here are the stats on flights there: Take-Offs and Landings
    In 2010: 771,107
    In 2009: 715,367
    In 2008: 722,337
    In 2007: 691,603

In my area we have had about 80,000 flights per year over a small, tight geographical area.
One of the things that started tipping me off that something in my environment was causing our illnesses was the fact that the muscle spasms I had all over my body went away when we went to San Diego to see a neurologist; he diagnosed me with beginning MS.

If you read this http://www.eltoroairport.org/issues/AWMA-paper.pdf you will see how dangerous airports are and how much cancer they cause. This does not include jet fuel dumping. I think it behooves everyone to get these VOC tests if you live near the airport. I have found that the high blood pressure symptoms match up with the jet fuel dumping and so have my neighbors.

Toxic exposure is progressive and accumulative, as time goes by our tolerance for these toxins decreases as our livers reach the maximum they can handle. I would like to create a map of cases and look for all the environmental exposures and see everyone get tested at the right times to see what is causing CC. We feel our heart rates increase and our BP climbs as our toxic load goes higher.

I disagree with your assessment, we have all types of cancer clustered on one street in my area under the flight path. It does not have to be only CC to be caused by jet fuel dumping. The man who died two weeks after Amanda had a biliary system cancer also and he was not a hepatitis C patient or an alcoholic. I have enough negative liver symptoms that are identical to how my neighbor started off, to be worried about getting liver cancer and so does my husband. If I sat here and did nothing for another three years then I would probably have liver cancer too.

Jet fuel dumping is a national problem at small airports with short runways and small airports have short runways.

CC in younger people is an extreme indicator of something very wrong in the environment. Now I am hearing from people who are younger and live near small airports and have they CC. I think the CC/airport connection is an important one that needs to be looked at. If it can happen in Sedona it can happen anywhere. I do not believe that I need to have only CC cases in one area to find a pattern of CC caused by jet fuel.

Airports put out an enormous amount of pollution and jet fuel dumping is an extreme case that is becoming very common. When you fly in an expensive jet losing $5,000 in fuel is not big deal. There are no other environmental factors in my area. I am betting there are many younger people all over our country who have CC and they in fact live near an airport. I believe barring some other extreme environmental factor, that jet fuel dumping is causing this and many other cancers. Jet fuel dumping is highly illegal because it is carcinogenic and crashes ones immune system.

Sedona……I appreciate your information and hope very much that your situation can be remedied. No one should be subjected to contamination of any type.
However; according to your statements we don’t see a cluster of occurrences of Cholangiocarcinoma in Sedona therefore, I believe that our discussion site is not the right venue for your cause.
I wish for the best of luck in your pursuit of finding answers to your concerns.
    Sincerely,
    Marion

My area has a cluster of various cancers, especially on one street that holds pollution due to the geography and altitude. I do not have cancer but I have a swollen liver, liver pain and liver spasms and so does my husband. Our water is 100% clean. I have only been in this area for three years.

Age, genetics, length of time in an area and how often you are home all factor into this. We are always home, some people are at work so they ave less exposure. Lisa mentioned living near or on an old tire manufacturing plant, tires are full of benzene and petrochemicals. Her water may be contaminated, I recommend everyone get this blood test for a starter to see what is in their blood.

If you have trouble sleeping or feel you have a racing heart, check your blood pressure. Keep track of your intermittent symptoms on a calendar. All my neighbors have the same symptoms at the same time! NO jet fuel dump and none of us have high blood pressure.

    Hi Susie,

I would like to speak to you on the phone. I will email you my full lab test that we both had done. The test is a Volatile Organic Solvents blood test by Metametrix which is a specialty lab. http://www.metametrix.com/test-menu/profiles/toxicants-and-detoxification/volatile-solvents

    Read this also http://www.eltoroairport.org/issues/AWMA-paper.pdf
This is not taking into consideration the illegal jet fuel dumping. Pilots are dumping, they admit it online on message boards and I had pilots come tell me they do it. We can smell it when it happens if we are outside. I recommend you also buy a blood pressure monitor if you do not have one already.

    Kristin,

Hi. I’m 32 and was diagnosed at 31 with cholangiocarcinoma. I live about 1-2 miles away from a small airport.
What are you suggesting we get tested for and where do you get it done at?
There doesn’t appear to be a high incidence of cholangiocarcinoma in my area.

    Kristin,

I find this all very interesting and scary. We live very close to Akron Canton airport in Ohio. My daughter, Lauren, has cholangiocarcinoma and is only 26. My husband and I both have high blood pressure and are on medication. Sounds familiar to you. We also have an old landfill near our house. Thankfully, they put city water in our allotment before we moved here, so we don’t use well water. This is all quite upsetting and I will look into it further. Thanks for the info.

I have wondered about the environmental aspect myself. Dad lives in a Southern Ohio town called Manchester. There are two very close powerplants to us and they have been cited many times for EPA violations. There are many people around my parents with all kinds of illness, from MS, to ALS, to Multiple Myeloma and now Dad with possible CC. There is also a young girl with something called Castleman’s Disease and very rare. I would like to know if there is a connection to the environment and this is the first I’ve heard about the jet fuel dumping.

Please look at your area and symptoms. One of the symptoms of jet fuel dumping is a rise in blood pressure and heart rate. The EPA said that 99% of all cancers within 30 miles of Chicago-Midway were caused by the airport. Some people do not realize their BP is up, they just feel restless and cannot sleep.

Look at hexavalent chromium in the water and other chemicals, look at geography, flight patterns, and car exhaust, as well as chemical plants, things that are being burnt. Obviously there are other carcinogens that could cause cancer besides jet fuel dumping.

Everyone has a different ability to handle toxin loads, this is based on your personal methylation profile. Methylation is why one person will get a vaccine and become autistic and another will handle it and be ok. One of the places where doctors practice detoxing and DNA methylation testing is in Ohio, http://www.heartfixer.com. Read the heartfixer website http://www.heartfixer.com/AMRI-Nutrigenomics.htm

Dr Amy Yasko owns the lab that does DNA methylation testing and she sells products for cleaning the methylation pathways and increasing mitochrondrial ATP. Methylation is also responsible for who gets heart disease and who does not.

Thanks to everyone who read(s) my post and replied. Please go to http://www.closetheairport.com, the front page has a copy of my blood test from May 17th showing my blood is full of jet fuel. My husband’s test is the same.

Sedona is the site of illegal jet fuel dumping! Anyone living near any airport, including very small airports is at risk of breathing raw jet fuel. I know we are being dumped on here and since this happens in Sedona it must happen in other towns. Sedona is not the only town with a short runway.

Please everyone, read my website and sign my petition on change.org if you would be so kind.

I am gathering evidence to send to the FAA and Congress to stop this illegal jet fuel dumping. It will continue as long as there are airports in small towns that can accommodate jets. Living near an international airport is also a cancer risk. Cancer rates are higher within 30 miles of any large airport.
The FAA claims there are 127 high altitude jet fuel dumps per year. That number is far exceeded in low altitude jet fuel dumps by small business jets. We have endured up to three jet fuel dumps per week!

The FAA is already investigating out situation, however; this is not going to help the rest of the country. We are being poisoned here so others are as well. It is not easy to realize jet fuel dumping is occurring because one must be outside when it occurs, be in the flight path and be close enough to the jet itself. My house is also glass so I have a view of every jet even when I am in the house. My neighbors at lower elevation were unaware this was happening because they were not home, not able to smell it and not able to see the jets.

People think of Sedona as a safe and pristine place but I have learned the hard way that this is not true, we are living in a very dangerous place. My neighborhood is a bowl (Red Rock Crossing), with canyons and washes. There is no way for the jet pollution to leave our area; we literally suffocate here.

I have an extensive website up. My husband has scarred lungs from inhaling jet fuel since 2009. I have a long list of health symptoms, including intermittent high blood pressure and I have a BP of 118/68 normally.
I discovered the jet fuel dumping shortly after my neighbor Amanda died.
It is impossible to develop this form of cancer at age 20, it is most definitely environmental.

Here is a recent newspaper article the Red Rock News ran on me; this was before I knew it was the jet fuel dumping making us sick. http://redrocknews.com/News/woman-works-to-close-sedona-airport.html

If you or a loved one suspects jet fuel dumping you can get a blood test as we did. The Airport/City/County whoever owns it can be held responsible for your damages and wrongful deaths. No one else has uncovered the jet fuel dumping over small towns or linked it to cancer clusters. We just happen to live in the perfect spot to figure this out and it still took us years.

Hi Kristen, I am 48 years old and was diagnosed almost two years ago. We live in Bath, Ohio. Our development is on the old Firestone property and I wonder what type of chemicals they dumped here when it was just open land. My next door neighbor died of gliobastoma at 50 and another of prostate cancer at 48. I don’t drink and I don’t eat any raw fish. We have lived here for ten years. I no longer drink our water even though we have an extensive water filtration system and have had our water tested. Call me if you want to chat 330-903-6868.

Hi Kristin, I live in Gilbert AZ and have been here 17 years. This is so unbelievable about Sedona. It is such a ‘pristine’ place and I simply cannot imagine something like this going on there, not to say it can’t. I am not so sure our members will feel comfortable turning all their information over at this point. What do you think is the environmental problem in Sedona that you have found?
I have been worried along with Percy about the Sushi phoenomena going on. I do believe we need to know more before asking our members to give out their numbers and etc. Your input is very appreciated.
