Hi Charlea….sorry to hear of the latest developments. This cancer sure likes to keep us on our toes. Here are some links to previous discussion regarding hip metastases:

Others may come forward with some more current information.
Hang in there Charlea. This one may very well respond to radiation treatments.
All my best wishes,
MarionFebruary 24, 2011 at 4:02 am #48341lainySpectatorCharlea, I am so sorry to hear this news! Somewhere in the recess of my mind, and it usually is at recess, I seem to recall a couple of hip problems.
Try our search at the top of the page and type in hip mets and see what comes up. I know you will keep us posted and I wish you the best!February 24, 2011 at 3:31 am #4823charleaSpectatorWell, I guess I am leaving the land of the painless CC and joining the group of members with pain. Started having R hip pain several weeks ago and after an ultrasound to check my circulation, two hip x-rays and a bone scan it appears to be a bony metastasis. I know others have talked about having bony mets. Anyone with CC in the hip? How was it managed? I have an appointment with the radiation oncologist and then one with an orthopedic surgeon. I would appreciate feedback.
CharleaI am back with an update after seeing the radiation oncologist. Looked like initially that I would just need 10 days total of radiation and then 3 months of healing as the bone would be weakened further until full replacement occurred. Unfortunately when the CAT scan was done for the planning it was found that the neck of the hip was involved too putting me at high risk for snapping off my hip, not a pleasant thought. That happened with my mother when she had mets to her hip so it looks like I am following in her footsteps (she had metastatic squamous cell cancer). So far the pain has been manageable with Vicodin, Neurontin and Motrin so I have no complaints on that score. Next Wednesday I have an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon regarding having a rod placed or getting a total hip followed by radiation. My oncologist asked some subtle questions about my daily activities to assess my emotional health and attitude. So far I have been looking forward to enjoying my art classes and producing work for the gallery where I show my work. I suppose there would be questions when I can no longer look forward to the future and have no enjoyment in life. I have been so fortunate to date on this journey, even with the bone mets so I cannot complain. I pray for all of your family and friends who make this journey in the myriad of ways that CC brings and wish you all the strength that is required.
