I love it….a dangerous woman!!!
March 17, 2011 at 3:50 am #48729charleaSpectatorLainy, I couldn’t even learn enough about knitting to make two left sleeves! Most of what I do I do for fun so if it’s stressful I find something else to create. And then I give it to my friends! That can be a positive or negative…..
One of my pastels is on my Facebook page as my picture. I don’t know enough about computers yet to put my picture there. I learn a little about a few things to be dangerous.March 16, 2011 at 11:12 pm #48728pamSpectatorCharlea, you certainly are an inspiration to everyone. I love your attitude and admire your strength. I would love to have the talent and imagination to paint! You really do lift people’s spirits!
March 16, 2011 at 10:43 pm #48727marionsModeratorCharlea….great news regarding the negative on the blood clot. Enjoy your painting and if so possible post a picture for us to see.
All my best wishes
MarionMarch 16, 2011 at 7:12 pm #48726lainySpectatorYEAH! You go girl, paint away! I wish I was artistic but no such luck. Can’t sew either. Once knitted 2 left sides for a sweater. So, it’s a gorgeous day in Phoenix and I am in the mood to wash my car. I am so glad there was no clot.
March 16, 2011 at 6:23 pm #48725charleaSpectatorHi All, no blood clot, the leg continues to swell but it is bearable so onward I go! Was able to do housework today and now am getting ready to work on some paintings I had started earlier on before the diagnosis. I have an appointment later today with my orthopedic surgeon so maybe he’ll have some ideas about the swelling. Thank you for your good wishes.
CharleaMarch 16, 2011 at 3:30 pm #48724nur1954SpectatorCharlea – You could be a really bitter person and no one would blame you. I admire you for finding so much positive about each of your experiences. You are truly an inspiration. Love and thoughts to you – Nancy
March 16, 2011 at 4:11 am #48723marionsModeratorCharlea….sorry for having to go back due to a possible blood clot. Hopefully this will be resolved in no time. I am not sure that it will help but, allergic reactions seem to occur due to medical tape or plastic. Our Kris comes to mind. She had mentioned that she developed an allergy to medical plastic.
Good luck and please, keep us posted.
All my best wishes,
MarionMarch 16, 2011 at 1:33 am #48722lainySpectatorHi Charlea, Congratulations on making it through a big surgery! You are now “HIP, chic and trendy!” I sincerely hope that after they get the leg from swelling the rest of your recovery goes along very smoothly. Looking forward to next update.
March 15, 2011 at 10:44 pm #48721charleaSpectatorWell, I am home from the hospital after surgery which went well. However, leave it to a nurse to have a unique problem which in my case was a massive skin reaction to the binder used to hold the dressings in place. Redness, blisters and draining areas from chest to knee! Fortunately it isn’t painful and it is distracting from the surgical pain. I am just getting ready to go back to the hospital because my leg is swelling more than expected so they suspect a clot. I’ll have an ultrasound and be on my way. The up side to all this was the wonderful care I got at the hospital with the chance to see a lot of old friends I used to work with. When or if I have to go into hospice there I will go with a sense of caring that is so comforting.
Will report more later. Thanks to the good words of support.
CharleaMarch 11, 2011 at 8:29 pm #48720nancy246SpectatorDear Charlea, I too am hoping all went well with the surgery. My husband has had radiation on bone mets. Other than fatigue and skin burns, radiation is usually very well tolerated – easier than chemo. Praying for good results! Hugs. Nancy
March 11, 2011 at 7:06 pm #48719marionsModeratorcharlea….my sister in-law had breast cancer and metastases to hip also. The screw and plate worked for her. I wish for the same for you. My love and good wishes are with you for tomorrow’s surgery.
Hugs
MarionMarch 11, 2011 at 6:47 pm #48718jennifersMemberHi Charlea,
I’m sorry to hear about the findings, but I hope the surgery went well yesterday, and the hip is now stable enough for radiation. Thinking and praying for you!
JenMarch 10, 2011 at 5:46 am #4884charleaSpectatorI was trying to remember what I said on this site the last time I mentioned the hip pain but chemo brain kicked in. Just a brief update, a bone scan revealed a bright spot on the greater trochanter of my right hip. A visit to the radiation oncologist showed that the tumor involved more, most of the neck was tumor with just a thin layer of bone with a hole through it. Tomorrow I go for surgery to insert a screw and plate to stabilize my hip enough so that I can go for radiation. I remain positive…I feel the love of family and friends surrounding me and feel good about my doctors. I will keep you posted.
