    Pfox,

While markers are not always indicators of disease, it is better to have it trending downward!! So i would take it as wonderful news and cheers to you!

Scanxiety and I are old friends for sure. I can totally relate. What I try to do is allow myself to be anxious for 1 or 2 hours a day and relax the rest of the time. I think I get anxious so that my guard isn’t down so limiting it to a few hours was helpful for me.

Good luck with your scan in October!

    Best wishes,

Pfox….I agree with Lainy. The CA 19-9 tumor markers mainly are used to observe response to chemo treatments. Physicians look for up or downward trends and yours must be heading in the right direction. Great news. Pre-scan anxiety is something we can relate to well. Know that tons of positive vibes are heading your way.
    Hugs,
    Marion

Hello PFox, I would say its sounding good. From what I learned the markers need to be weighed in with other results. Going down though sounds good to me. Perhaps the chemo plays tricks like some RX do and I am wondering if that is making you more tense/emotional. You might also have some scanxiety! all in all doesn’t sound too bad and lets hope you get a great scan report! Stay strong and sending big cyber hugs to you!

Hi all. I have not posted in a while either and wanted to give an update and possibly get some input. I just started my third cycle of gem/cis. So far I am tolerating it well. I would say my side effects are mostly fatigue. Though, emotionally I constantly feel like a wreck and this could be due to many reasons! But it seems like I have been more on a roller coaster ride since I have started my chemo. My doctor just put in my blood test results in my chart online and I am excited to say that my tumor marker has gone down a bit. She says this is good news but the best assessment will be from my scan on October 7th. I am super nervous and hoping and praying mine has had some shrinkage or at least stable. I guess my question would be since the marker has gone down does that indicate much of anything? She did say it is good news, but not necessarily why it is good news. So I now sit and play the waiting game as I anxiously await for October 7th to arrive. As always prayers, hope, and strength to all!
