Marion, good one, you make me laugh as well! And I know Brigette has showed her funny side as well.

bgmat….this is a fantastic move forward. You have come a long way and it all pays off. You will be in my thoughts May 11th and unlike Lainy I still can cross both eyes.

We can’t do without Lainy’s sense of humor.

    Hugs

Dear Brigitte, I want to wish you the very best results! Usually I cross everything even my eyes but on the 11th I am having my first cataract removed so cannot cross that eye. Hope one eye will help! I will be thinking of you and praying for the best. Actually I think you will feel the spirit from all us on the 11th.

I am scheduled for TACE on 11 May. They said that I would be staying overnight in the hospital. I will let you know if it worked after I get my next scan. In the meantime, I still will get Gemzar chemo every 2 weeks.

I have not researched this procedure, but sounds like a better idea then giving chemotherapy to the entire body. It would be nice if the tumor is target only, and no harm to the rest of the body or normal cells. Please keep us updated as I am sure all of us are curious. I hope it is successful!! All the best and keep good thoughts and perhaps will help others get a similar procedure.

I could be incorrect, but I think you are referring to chemoembolization (TACE)- If so, when I was reading journal articles trying to find what was working, chemoembolization came up many times.

    Transarterial Chemo Embolization (TACE)

Transarterial chemo embolization therapy involves administration of chemotherapy directly to the liver tumor via a catheter. With this technique, the chemotherapy targets the tumor while sparing the patient many side effects of traditional chemotherapy that is given to the whole body.

Following chemotherapy, your physician will embolize (cut off) the blood supply to the tumors. In this manner, the tumor is treated using two different techniques. If necessary, TACE can be performed multiple times to achieve the desired response in the tumor.

    Best wishes,
    Catherine

Got results on my latest scan. Tumor grew a few millimeter so oncologist suggested a procedure which entails injecting a chemo drug directly into the tumor and then embolisation of the blood vessel that feeds the tumor hence starving it. They would have to go through the vein in my groin. Since my liver is in good shape the doctor said I am a good candidate for this procedure. So awaiting for a date to get it done. Has anyone had that procedure done?
