Hi Brigette,
Thanks for letting us know how things went with the scan results. I too would take the results as good news and it does sound like your med team has a plan in place for further treatments and that is good to hear as well. You are also tolerating the chemo as you say, it has not spread and the doc who did the TACE says he can control it. Yes this cancer is hard to kill, but you and the med team are talking fighting talk and that is always great to hear!!
Hugs,
Gavin

Mom just finished 3 cycles of chemo and we’re not meeting with ONC/surgeon for a few weeks. And, then we are telling them we will not schedule surgery and/or radiation until we get back from my daughter’s graduation mid-dec. Very unscientific, but I look at the chemo as washing out the whole body and killing off any floating cancer cells and then the targeted treatments (radiation/ablation) go after the tumors. I know that Mom’s tumor this time was growing for at least 9 months before we started on chemo and it still was only 1/2 the size of when she was diagnosed in 2013- the 4 or 6 weeks before we take the next step will give her body a chance to recover from the chemo before we start a “targeted” treatment like your ablation. When we had such great results with Mom previously, we went 9 months between first and second Y-90. I know it’s hard ( I’m not a patient), but if the doctors think you can go the month without chemo, enjoy it and give your body a break.
Thinking of you and sending hugs and best wishes,
Catherine
November 9, 2017 at 6:30 am #96061bgmat48SpectatorI am waiting for an appointment. In the meantime, I am not having chemo until 22 November which means I will have had a break of 1 month. The intermediate doctor who sees me before chemo cancelled the one I was supposed to have last week because I was having the scan and my next one is 22 Nov. Not sure why they do that except that maybe it is because I am supposed to have the ablation. I just wonder if not having chemo for a while might make the tumors grow some more.

This news is so encouraging! Thank you for sharing it.
How soon will you be scheduled for the ablation procedure?
Take care, regards, Mary
November 8, 2017 at 6:09 am #96056bgmat48SpectatorI got my scan results on Monday. Good news is the TACE procedure partially worked. There are still live cells on the edge of both of the tumors and they have grown just a few millimeters. Next step is ablation which I understand is burning the tumor but they can only do one of them as the other is too close to blood vessels. He also prescribed continued Gemzar chemo, which he thinks is working in controlling the growth of the tumors. I feel lucky in that nothing has spread anywhere and I am tolerating the chemo.
This cancer sure is hard to kill. The doctor who did the TACE did tell me he couldn’t cure me but he could control it.
