My husband had a resection for intrahepatic CC in November 2011 and was fine for ten months but his September 2012 scan showed multiple tumors in his liver and an enlarged paracardial lymph node (all confirmed by a PET scan). On November 7, he began chemotherapy with FOLFIRINOX and today we received the results of his recent scan. The tumors in the liver appear to be stable and the lymph node has decreased in size by about 50%. The oncologist seemed pleased with the results and plans four more rounds of FOLFIRINOX followed by another scan. Although my husband has had some problems with diarrhea, he has been able to control this with medication and his other side effects have been minimal. He is still quite active and working full-time. The oncologist said that FOLFIRINOX is a very toxic chemo regimen and my husband is tolerating it better than 95% of the people who have been on it. Although I was hoping that the tumors in the liver would shrink somewhat, I still think these results are worthy of posting in the good new section. In any event, it’s good to have a plan in place for the next few weeks.
