Hello Everyone,
My mom has her stents changed every 3 months. Recently in about 3 weeks her alkaline phosphatase went from the 400s to 1000s. Her Ferritin level is in the 5000s and in order to reduce blood transfusions she is on Epogen 40,000 unit shots weekly. They help her hemoglobin get in the 9s, but during this time changes of the liver enzymes have occurred, jaundice, and itching. Her bilirubin is 2.8.
How do we know if this is sepsis or disease progression? Her doctor says MRI at this point is not necessary as she is in palliative care.
Thank you!
