Thanks All for welcoming me.
I will keep you posted and I wish for you and your loved ones dealing with cancer the very best.
Sincerely
GregAugust 26, 2015 at 1:12 am #89509marionsModeratorGreg….I too would like to welcome you to our special group of dedicated, caring and kind people touched by this cancer. Congratulations on a successful surgery and the NED findings. Wonderful, wonderful news. Greg, I am puzzled by the “nerve” involvement. Do you know which nerve the physician was eluding to? Also, would you be so kind and share with us the type of integrative therapies you have benefited from? We have so few discussions on the subject of integrative medicine and therefore have much to learn.
So glad you found us and look forward to many more discussions with you.
Hugs

I do not know about the nerve involvement but your diagnosis, surgery and treatment were very close to my husband’s. Diagnosed in April 2014, surgery on May 2, clear margins, chemo with Gem/Cis but no radiation. John had 55% of his liver removed and had intrahepatic. We are going in this Wednesday for lab work, but his liver enzymes were normal before the tumor was found incidentally. At the end of September, we will have another CT scan which will hopefully reveal NED.
I just wanted to welcome you to this amazing group of fighters and supporters. They have been here for me when I had questions or was just nervous with upcoming scans.
Good luck with your treatment. You are one of the 2%, as our oncology surgeon says, that qualifies for surgery. Please keep us posted on your progress.
Continued blessings.

Welcome to our group! Thank you for sharing your story. NED is much too rare with this disease but it sounds like your chances for staying that way are great. I have read of many being offered or doing chemo after resection but your also had radiation as well.
We look forward to hearing about great scan results in October.
Take care,
CatherineAugust 23, 2015 at 7:36 pm #11633gregfMemberHello all
After many months of having elevated liver enzymes I was diagnosed on April 2nd 2014 with extrahepatic hilar CC. I was told it was an early detection and I was eligible for the liver resection surgery. After getting a second opinion from Sloan I returned to Cincinnati and had my surgery at UC Medical on April 10th. The surgery was successful at getting the entire tumor along with 70% of my liver and 9 clear lymph nodes. Margins were also clear but some very slim (1mm). The cancer was stage 2 and the cells were graded “well differentiated”. I was also told the nerve was involved and that might be a good reason to get Chemotherapy treatments. Do any of you know what exactly the ramifications of nerve involvement are or could be? I did follow up with 6 Chemo treatments of cisplatin & gemcitabine and 6 of gemcitabine only. Took a 4 week break followed by 5 weeks/25 radiation therapy with 5FU treatments. I was able to take the 5FU for only half way through because of low platlettes. I figured since I was relatively young (57) with no other health problems and a strong desire to live I would leave it all on the field as they say. All treatments concluded mid December and my CT scans in January and April of 2015 were NED. I have since been doing just about every Integrative therapy I can find, definitely over the top. Next scan will be in October.
Thanks for listening and I pray you all have a long and happy life.
