I think Lainy said it so well. We just don’t know. My husband has CC and he had trouble with nausea and being tired almost 2 years before diagnosis. By the time he was diagnosed he had suffered so much and had a prognosis of 3-6 months to live. He has made it 5 months so far. Some of these cancers appear fast growing. Each person is different as Lainy said. Whether fast or slow, try to enjoy each day. Celebrate and live well on the days your energy is good and rest up on bad days. Cherish each moment. Blessings, Susan

That is the major problem in that it is not diagnosed until the worse symptoms begin to show. Even once it is diagnosed everyone seems to have different symptoms, different treatments and different outcomes. It’s like a puzzle that no one seems to be able to put together. There are quite a few who served in Korea and Viet Nam and they may have picked up a parasite called ‘liver flukes’ which lives in the intestines for 30-40 years and then leaves, leaving behind CC. All we know for sure is that we know nothing. I know that shock and anger are extremely hard to overcome but please know that the anger you are holding is not good for fighting the cancer and in the long run will deplete your energy. Perhaps we can get some advisefrom others here on how they overcame the anger. Please keep us posted as we really do care.
January 1, 2011 at 4:59 am #46057charleaSpectatorI too had complained about right upper quadrant pain for at least ten years before I was diagnosed. My doctors did not ignore me but all tests came back negative including ultrasounds, CAT scans, liver enzymes, UGI and barium enemas. In 2005 I had my gallbladder out but without improvement in the pain. At times it would be bad enough that just putting my foot down too firmly would cause an increase in pain. After a time I just gave up pursuing the cause and then in January of this year I had a slight swelling just below the juncture of my ribs and inability to take a deep breath. It was very minor but my new doctor jumped on the symptoms, did an x-ray that showed a markedly elevated diaphragm and sent me for a CAT scan that showed the large tumor in the liver and enlarged lymph nodes. I am doing very well now after one period of chemo and a chemoembolization. The cancer is still there but not progressing so……we all have different stories and we pray for and support those who suffer from CC. What a person learns on this website is extremely important, both from a physical standpoint and a psychological viewpoint. How much difference everyone on this site makes to each of us. I could not have kept my positive attitude so easily without the loving and caring of the group. Happy New Year to all of you.

January 1, 2011 at 3:19 am #46055jtoroMemberI was diagnosed right before I turned 49. Surgery not an option because it has spread. I started feeling depressed and not right about 40 and went in dor test. Dr. Treated it as depression because he never found anything. Went back since then abot every two years just not feeling right. Bowel problems, etc. He said I probably had ibs. Gave me medication for that. Then started getting back pain and acid reflux in April 2010 and went to him. He thought it was nothing and I asked him for upper gi and ultrasound and that’s when spots on liver showed up.
It has spread to peritinium and 2 small mm spots on lungs. Still so angry seven months after diagnosis that all that time I knew something was wrong and it was never found.January 1, 2011 at 2:33 am #46054darlaSpectatorWe were told it could have been there for 30 or 40 years. Silent & hiding.
January 1, 2011 at 1:26 am #4549jtoroMemberI keep reading that cc is slow going and was wondering
what exactly does this mean time wise? Has it been there two years, fours years ? Any answers!
