Kathleen celebrated her 5 year victory over cancer in September. I can’t tell you how many times she has heard she only has a few months to live.

To celebrate, our family is going to see Bruce Springsteen on Friday. I mention this because in 2002 I was at Best Buy purchasing his CD, “The Rising”, at the same time Kathleen’s doctor let it slip that she had cancer (he meant to wait until I arrived). Needless to say, I had several frantic messages and I make it a point never to miss any appointments now.

“The Rising” dealt with the 9/11 incident and aftermath and there is a song on the CD called “Waiting on a Miracle”. I listened to that song a lot back then and I also listened to another song called “You’re Missing”. Thankfully, we did get our miracle and we haven’t had to deal with the missing part.

Here’s hoping for many more miracles for all of you!

I’m over 4 years with tumor markers currently all in the normal range and excellent quality of life.
I figure on chasing Jeff for another 20 or 30 years but I’m not sure I’m quick enough to ever catch him.

    “6 – 8 months”… “about a year”…

Those were the words that shook us to the core when we first found out about the cc diagnosis of ourselves or a loved one. Since then, life was never the same.

I find that I come to this site more when things are worse for my dad. After reading the posts I always feel a bit better – even when some of the stories make me cry. One thing that definitely is helpful is to read about stories where individuals have blown the statistics out of the water – they definitely give me hope, and I think they do for others as well.

I’ve seen that JeffG is over 8 years and JerryD is at about 7. Any others? Has someone topped that?

I think it would be very helpful to lift the spirits if there was one thread that people could go to in order to see the real success stories.

So if you’re reading this and wouldn’t mind, please respond with how long you’ve been fighting the good fight, what your diagnosis is (e.g. extra or intra; stage; etc.) and what you have done to beat the odds.

Sorry if this is redundant and the thread already exists. If it does already exist, please point the way for some of us “new members.”

    Thanks.
