LOL! I love your humour Jeff!
Mum not so good, well, good in herself, but I don’t think the end is far off. The hospital have done all they can, and she is hopefully moving to a hospice in the next few days. The Docs told her this morning, that it may be wise to make sure my Brother in NZ gets his butt over here a bit sharpish. He will arrive next Wednesday.
So not good Jeff, really, but Mum is good, and we sat and discussed songs that she might like at her funeral today!! There is an old song from WW2 that she fancied, amongst others. I think it is most likely a Brit song, I know it……….”Goodbyeeee, goodbyeeee, wipe a tear baby dear from you eyeeeeee! Bonsoir old thing cheerio chin chin…….” etc! Some visitors may know it! She is funny. I’m gonna miss her big time!
Now you just jolly well behave from tomorrow, or I’ll tell your wife!!April 10, 2007 at 5:23 pm #15530jeffgMemberHi Kate…. All is going fine at the present. Will finish up cycle 4 of OXY and XOLEDA today. Went pretty good. Pain still in ribs but has been managable with Morphine 3 times daily. Got to wait until Friday the 19th for Bone scan. That will tell more and we can look in the cystal ball and decide if any additional radiation zapping will be needed. Otherwise, busy, busy, busy, just no more carrying 6’x8′ wooden fences around anymore. I feel healthy enough but I guess my body says otherwise. Ha! I’m just a little stubborn some would say. My wife leaves for Jolly Ole England tomorrow; I had to promise not to bend, lift, eat spicy foods, not to remodel the house, no yard work, the list goes on Hee! Hee! or she would not go. I also had to promise to be on web cam every night so she can check in and make sure I’m behaving myself. Ha! Enough of that, How is your Mom doing ? Did they figure out the flatulence problem yet? Well I guess I’ll go do some channel surfing beings I’ve been given my marching orders not to do anything else. Cheerio for Now!

But not too tightly round the ribs! xApril 3, 2007 at 7:51 pm #15527glightfootMemberI’m glad that you were able to stablize your rib pain with the ace bandage. Maybe it is the pulled muscle that caused the pain and lucky for you that you went in to get X-rays so that you found out about the possible metasisis. It is curious that the lesions (if that’s what they are) only showed up with the X-rays but not with CT scans.
Thanks for the CiCi hints — I have a feeling that it’s applicable elsewhere.
Hugs,
GApril 3, 2007 at 4:37 pm #425jeffgMemberFriday I visited the ER. Was sitting at CiCi’s Pizza parking lot and out of nowhere it was like I was zapped with electricity from the inside out under my right rib cage. After 3 hours of pain and a few loritabs no relief. Got to ER they took x-rays of rib cage and found a lesion on my 7th and 10th rib suspicous of CC mets. They initially thought I had fractured a rib which is common for someone going through radiation and chemo. Well yesterday got to see Oncologist and he basically said what I described and checking the location that I had ruputured a vessel within the Liver/a little bleeder that usually clots itself. He said that could be chemo doing its job or disease progression. He said the lesions on the ribs if mets would be treated the same way as current treatment. Anyhow, I’m making arrangements for a bone scan with my primary Doctor as I think if it is mets, radiation treatment can be conducted along current chemo regimen. I was going to hold off on chemo for a time while my wife goes to England for her Mom’s 80th. I guess with the new discovery I’ll keep my self busy while she is gone. Now that I have said all that ; I have ace bandaged my rib cage to stablize it and wolla no pain. My opinion is I tore or pulled some muscle / cartilage between my ribs. Who knows , maybe bone scan will clarify something. Also I’m wandering with all the CT Scans of pelvic , abdomen, and chest that I have done wouldn’t that have shown lesions on my ribs or has someone got tunnel visioned with reading my scans. Okay , all done. If anyone has had similar experience or suggestions please feel free. By the way CiCi Pizza is pretty good. The trick is to just get your salad and drink first and wait until you see them pull out 4-5 fresh hot pizzas from the oven so you not eating dried heat lamp stuff. Ha! Ha! had to tell ya. Cheerio for now.
