    Tom,
We just met with Dr Tom Chin at Florida Hospital in Orlando. He is the head of the Transplant team here. Mom’s Onco Dr Zachari is AMAZING and highly recomended him. While Mom is too weak right now to go through the surgery, he is very aggresive and I have faith that if I could get her to a point where she is strong enough he would be willing to try just about anything within reason. You should try and see him. Also you could try Moffit in Tampa, I have heard a lot of good for them.

    Tom,

I second Lainy that another opinion is in order. I have read and heard of several people who reduced tumors to an operable point and had successful resections. Seek out aggressive surgeons!

Gosh, Tom probably only a surgeon would know, you also know how different each person is. Perhaps one more opinion? Barnes in St. Louis? Don’t give up hope and there is nothing wrong with getting a 3rd opinion. Best wishes to you and to Ben.

I have read a couple of recent posts (most recently just this morning from new member chrismarshall) regarding patients being diagnosed at Stage IV and eventually being able to have a resection (there was at least one other thread I read but can’t remember who now).

When Ben was diagnosed with Stage IV – with mets to his surrounding lymph nodes and omentum, we were told that surgery would never be an option as once the cancer has metasticized surgery is ruled out. Both Mayo Clini and MD Andersen never offered any hope that this would be an option. (and also multiple visits with Oncologists locally here in Fort Lauderdale).

So – my question is, based on some of those posts – maybe it is? With Ben’s recent success in reducing his primary tumor size it’s headed in the right direction, but I don’t want to hold out hope for something that isn’t going to happen…

    thoughts?

    tom
