All I can say is that when Tom’s tumor markers were normal he had no issues. Both times CC was detected, it was the tumor markers that showed that there was something wrong…

My doctor has never told me what my CA19 or bilirubin count is. I’m glad, because that means I have two less things to worry about.

    Hi All,
I don’t think we should put too much stock into tumor markers going up and down. I almost wish they wouldn’t do the test so much because it isn’t a reliable test of what’s actually going on. There are too many variables that can effect the results. We are headed to the UPMC Monday and if their scans show no change in Tom’s condition since 3 years ago then I’m going to quit worrying about the stupid CA19 and just go on as always, assuming Tom is doing fine. Until they see something on the scans they aren’t going to do anything anyway. I know people on here that have tumors the size of baseballs and their tumors markers are normal so what does that tell you? I guess we will find out a little more in a few days. Have a great weekend all!! Mary

Thanks MLepp! That expiration date comment made my entire day! A laugh to kick start my morning was really great! Thank you!

I agree with Lainy! Tom’s CA 19 is 336, down from 466 three weeks ago and his bilirubin level is 22.7 down from 24.7 three weeks ago. He is currently undergoing radiation for her reoccurance of a CC tumor 20 months after a left liver lobe resection.

Never give up! Keep a positive attitude! No one has an expiration date stamped on the bottom of their feet or on their butt!

This wonderful site has given me a lot of information and helps me to maintain a positive attitude – even on those days when being a caretaker to a very sick husband gets me a bit down.

Prayers from Wisconsin coming your way.

Go with God and KEEP KICKIN’ THAT cancer.

Stan, don’t despair! Teddy’s CA19 is now 375 from 11 in September but his Biliruin is a wonderful .08. MRI next Friday to see what might be the cause.
    What does the Doc say?

    Ouch!

Got the news on my marker today. Quite honestly, it bites.
When I was diagnosed, I was only at 350 something. Then from 93 in December to 519 on Monday.

    *sigh*

In the words of Han Solo, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.”
