Thanks for your quick replies, that makes us feel better. He was just diagnosed two weeks ago but fairly advanced and resection isn’t an option. This site has been a great reference and I appreciate everything you have done out here.

It does take a while for the bilirubin to work out of the system.

    Welcome to the site.

when I had my resection, my doctor wasnt very concerned about the color of my stool. Basically he said it took awhile for me to get yellow and it would take awhile for all the bilirubin to get back to normal and where it needed to be. I still dont get so many “normal” color stools now…they are always a little lighter and yellower.

I would watch how your partner felt as well as the bloodwork. These will be more predictive right now until after the body has had time to settle in.

My partner had a metallic stent put in his biliary canal on Tuesday of this week. By Thursday is bilirubin went from over 20 to 12. He had one normal colored bowel movement but they are whitish again. He is already less yellow and feels better but just wondering if the stool color is an indication that he still might be blocked? Just wondering if anyone knows how quickly the stool goes back to n normal after the stent? Although he has had mostly liquids and mostly soup since the stent to wondering if that has anything to do with it or we should be concerned?
