I especially like that cc was linked to the parasite. My husband was in Southeast Asia in the late 60’s and now is approaching his first year since diagnosis. There is gathering evidence that many US Veterans have contracted this hateful type of cancer.
EileenI remember your update post from that meeting Helen. It was great to hear even the hint of a test such as this from that meeting, superb to hear this news today and can’t wait to hear more about it all! Fingers crossed and so looking forward to hearing more about it all.

This urinary biomarker research is what was hinted at in one of our “updates from Imperial College London” a little while ago, and is the result of work done in collaboration with Thailand.
Although we have seen John Chetwood’s presentation, because it is yet to be published we cannot put the full details on AMMF’s website, but in the next few days we hope to be able to post a general description of the work and what is planned for the future …
And John’s response on receiving congratulations from AMMF, “Many thanks for your continued support of the CC research at Imperial – such work wouldn’t have been possible without you.” Without our wonderful supporters here in the UK, such help would not be possible.

“The Challenge’s winner was John Chetwood, a fifth year medical student at the College, for his project looking at how urinary biomarkers can be used to create a new diagnostic tool to detect Cholangiocarcinoma, an aggressive form of cancer that affects the bile ducts and is caused by a parasitic worm.”
