Surgery but not CC just FYI

Robin forwarded her last informative mail to us. The good news is:

I am happy to say this is my last update! Tomorrow mom goes home from the hospital.. YEAH! If I tell you she is up (slowly!) cleaning up the hospital room, what does that tell you… It’s time to go home.. haha! She has been off the morphine pump over 24 hours and on oral pain medication, she has no more tubes or anything that need to be removed. She is getting up and taking her walks around the floor, like I said very slowly moving around. She is learning the foods she is supposed to eat and those to avoid and she is dealing with all the changes her body has gone through. She is doing very good at it all.
I’m sure this week she will start to catch up on phone calls, emails and of course getting back to her posting on the CC site. She just gets tired quickly but the 6-8 weeks it will take her to recover her strength will be so worth the outcome, I can see it already!
Thank you all for the support again, she loved hearing all the messages!! Your next update will come from mom when she is ready.

Here is the latest update by Robin:

Good evening everyone… today is Friday, it’s been 72 hours since the surgery was complete and today was just an “ok” day. I think yesterday was such a great day for her that she might have overdone it! She walked the hallways 3 times, and was up most of the day and evening. Today has been spent in bed, she hasn’t even gotten up to walk yet (except to go to the bathroom of course). She is still hooked up to an IV and she is still on the morphine pump, until this morning her pain level was an 8 at the minimum, now it’s about a 4. So some progress there at least. She is hungry at times but after a bite of something she is done. They will let her eat food (not a liquid diet anymore), although she has to get used to what is good for her (with the colostomy) and what she has to avoid, yes we have a list LOL.
We thought she might be going home Saturday or Sunday at the latest but I think it’s now Sunday or Monday, we are not going to rush out of here! I’m sorry to say she still doesn’t want to be on the phone so I have not hooked the phone back up in the room.
The doctor was in yesterday and said he was very pleased with her progress, he will see her again on Monday. She is doing great taking care of all the things involved with the colostomy, being her old self and very independent about that. So today is just a lot of sleeping, tomorrow is another day!
Right now I am waiting for Kyle (her grandson) to surprise her as he came in from Tucson, I think that will brighten her day up a bit!

I haven’t heard from Robin since yesterday Marion, the same message that you posted here so as you say we have to assume all is well.

I’d make another joke here but wouldn’t want anyone to be in stitches, especially Lainy!!
