July 14, 2010 at 2:29 pm #39924christine4SpectatorLainy,
Here is my most recent concern about the surgery. I keep seeing you post long surgery and I have seen other post, saying this type of surgery is long, 6 to 8 hours long. The Dr. told my Mother, that it was going to take only two hours. Is this possible?July 14, 2010 at 2:05 pm #39923lainySpectatorYou flatter us too much. Remember that when your mom goes through this from beginning to end you are doing a huge part just by being there. I think your situation is perfect as too many chefs spoil the pot! We need some dessert chefs as well. I remember when Teddy had his aborted Whipple then the real deal. His kids, me, all of us with him could actually feel the love and prayers from everyone in the hospital room that day. My son said he had never felt anything like that ever before. We always say with all the outpouring that everyone is sending our way even now, how can we miss? You have the same situation, everyone pulling together and a whole lot of love! Not gonna lie to you. Long, hard surgery, long hard recovery….but it too shall pass. Stay strong for your mom and again good luck!
July 14, 2010 at 1:46 pm #39922christine4SpectatorDear Lainy and Teddy,
Thank you so much for lighting a candle for my Mother and your prayers. You both are so inspiring and I have found great encouragement from you both. You have to rememeber, I have been reading this site for months before posting. Your strength, endurances and helpful post, have been a comfort to me. Again, Thank You so Much!
I agree, this is the news we have been waiting for. We are happy and excited, just nervous about the procedure and recovery. My Sister, is moving in with my Mother, during the recovery after the surgery. She is the most Awesome person, I have ever met. Her and my Mother are very close. So, they are both comfortable with this arrangement. My Sister said, she is going to stay as long as it takes for my Mother’s recovery or until my Mother kicks her out. It gives us all a peace of mind, knowing that she staying with my Mother. Of coarse, I’ve been informed, that I will be her back-up for whatever my Sister or Mother needs. I feel helpless, but will do whatever they need, to make things easier for the both of them. They are my Heros!Christine
PS: One more thing, that’s funny. When the Dr. told my Mother about the surgery, he did tell her , that there was a 2% to 3% chance she may not walk out. Those were his words. Well my Mother said to him. ‘What are you going to laim me?’ The Dr. just looked at her and then my Sister. My Sister said, ‘Think about it for a minuter Mom.’ Then she realized what they were talking about and turned to the Dr. and responded. ‘That’s it so not an option.’ What a Hoot, she is!
July 14, 2010 at 12:20 pm #39921lainySpectatorChristine, that is such WOW news. We get all excited here when we hear someone is getting surgery! Prayers are in motion and Teddy will light a candle this morning at Mass. Actually he lights one every morning for the CC Family but he will make the flame higher today! All CC surgeries are lengthy and difficult but please keep in mind they normally are not life threatening, just big. I get such a big kick out of your mom, she sounds like me. Get all your ducks in a row! Somehow we think we will get things done so we don’t have to do anything when we get back home. Wrong! This is all good news and please try to look at it that way. Do not worry that she may be worn out by Friday, that is how we keep our minds busy, doing “stuff”. Mucho good luck sailing your families way!
July 14, 2010 at 11:16 am #3774christine4SpectatorMy Mother is scheduled for surgery on Friday. Her doctor told her, he was going to remove the left half of her liver and the gall bladder. He may have to recontruct the bile duct too. She had a Lung Test done yesterday. Today she is scheduled for a Stress Test. An appointment with the Analgesicolgist on Thrusday. She have been calling in the troops, to get things ready for my dad, while she is in the hospital and her after care. She is going to be worn-out by Friday.
She has been wanting this surgery done since they pulled out of the gall bladder surgery in January. When they finally told her, they were going to do the surgery, she was Shocked. She is extremely nervous. Understandable. This is a big deal.
I guess, I will say, that I am just as nervous as she is. I keep praying for a peace of mind for her, these last/next couple of days. I am praying for a successful surgery and a well recovery. That’s all we can do for now. Please keep my Mother in your prays, I would greatly appreciate it.
I’ll keep you updated, on her progress. I still have so many questions and most likely will have alot more to come. I’ll be posting them, as my head gets back on straight and when we get past this next hurdle.Christine
