Minzzi…….Only a physician can make an accurate diagnosis. From a layman’s term perspective, the vomiting, rise in bilirubin, darkening of urine are related to a blockage. You should receive the answer real soon.
Thinking of you and sending tons of hugs your way,
MarionJuly 13, 2016 at 3:17 pm #92712minzziSpectatorThanks. Luckily the fever went down last night on its own and nurse came this morning to take the blood tests once more. Once they were ready his hospice care doc called and said we should go to the er straight away as his bilirubin had risen from 18 to 72 (normal is under 21) in just one day. Crp was 79 so not really sure if it is actually infection caused by bacteria or virus but there is certainly a blockage somewhere in the bile ducts. Had to leave him there and hopefully they will do the imaging still today and ercp tomorrow morning. Im trying to stay calm at home and just remember how relatively emergetic he has been through this latest ordeal.
I wonder if the headaches he is experiencing are due to the high fever or some additional sinus infection or the bilirubin gathering in brain/head?July 13, 2016 at 3:43 am #92711marionsModeratorMinzzi……your husband’s symptoms require immediate medical attention.
Thinking of you and wishing for the best,
Hugs,
MarionJuly 13, 2016 at 1:05 am #12607minzziSpectatorHi,
Its been a while since I’ve written here.
The situation with my spouse is that he was diagnosed in july 2014 and did gem-cis between 12/2015-03/2016. Since the beginning of chemo there has been no growth or visible spreading. Affected lymph nodes still there as well as the main tumor of 13cm.
He has had a few fever episodes with the two latest ones spiking at over 40c. The second time is at the moment. He got over 38c yesterday which went away on its own during the night but returned again this evening with very rapidly progressing fever to over 40c with chills and luckily only one instance of vomiting. His urine is darker and seems to suffer from dehydration. He refuses to go to the ER like last time (but last time two months ago he did not vomit). He is not wanting to take fever lowering meds/pain killers and i am again battling with myself if i should call the ambulance or not. Been consulting with hospice care nurses but they cannot force him to go.
Even though this whole situation is absolutely horrible i must credit his ability to stay calm and seemingly in control of the situation always. I do love him so much and am grateful that during the two years he has had this he hasn’t suffered with pain, most likely because he has refused most conventional medication .My question is that can a cholangitis come so quickly as he had almost normal blood tests yesterday(apart from high liver enzymes and leucocytes) and only today his urine has been dark?
