I have the sweating often but have never had any fainting episodes. I have been light headed before due to lack of food. If he doesn’t have a stent he may need one or may need a stent replacement. I have a metal stent and have no issues with it. It was put in, in November replacement for a plastic one. The plastic ones are supposed to be replaced every 3 months. He may also need to eat more. Carnation instant drinks are great if eating is an issue. I also am a fan of butterscotch pudding
April 30, 2013 at 12:41 am #7133832coupeSpectatorHi Crissie,
The sweats sounds like some kind of infection. Does he have a fever? When I had stents, much of the time I had fevers – albeit sometimes low grade (like 99.8 etc). Sometimes the infection would cause a drop in blood pressure which caused light-headedness. In fact I crashed a couple of times (fainted) and got a little banged up. My urine was always more colorful than normal. If his temperature is elevated, he may need an oral antibiotic as needed. Hope you can sort it out. God bless you and your dad…bob
April 29, 2013 at 10:06 pm #71337marionsModeratorCrissi….I would assume that your Dad is also being checked for elevated blood ammonia levels and whether the stent is working. (You are mentioning the rusty colored urine.)

MarionApril 29, 2013 at 9:55 pm #71336lainySpectatorSusie, You are one smart cookie! I myself am a Type II and now that you mention it, those are some Diabetic symptoms. I keep telling them I am a 9 or 10 but they insist I am only a 2. The nerve! LOL
April 29, 2013 at 9:23 pm #71335wallsm1Spectatordoes he have blood sugar issues?
April 29, 2013 at 7:37 pm #71334gavinModeratorCrissie,
Is the stent plastic or metal? Plastic ones can clogg much quicker than metal ones, plastic ones last around up to 3 months before clogging can be an issue and metal ones longer at around a year or so.

April 29, 2013 at 5:22 pm #71333lainySpectatorCrissie, I was reminded of this when Gavin asked how long the stents had been in, but he also could need a stent exchange as they do get clogged which can lead to infection. My husband had stents and they were changed like every 6 weeks to 3 months.
April 29, 2013 at 5:14 pm #71332gavinModeratorHi Crissie,
Sorry to hear what your dad is going through right now, but you did exactly the right thing in getting him to A&E as quickly as you did. Like Marion and Lainy, I have never heard of this in relation to CC either apart from the sweats which can be quite common. Your dad is in good hands at Mayo and I hope that they get to the cause of this.
As to his urine and the stent, when did he have the stent inserted? It can take a bit of time for the stent to start working fully and for things to get back to normal. Please let us know how everything goes.
My best wishes to you and your dad,
Gavin
April 29, 2013 at 3:49 pm #71331lainySpectatorDear Crissie, I can only take a stab at this as I have never heard of the fainting unless he is not eating and is extremely weak from having no nourishment. Please let us know what they find out, I feel so bad for your Dad. Be strong.
April 29, 2013 at 3:41 pm #71330marionsModeratorCrissie….I am so sorry to hear of your Dad’s fainting spell and his subsequent fall. Other than the sweating episodes, which often are part of the tumor symptoms, I don’t recall hearing much of blurry vision and fainting – others may be able to share some thoughts with us.
Stay strong, Crissie, I am sure that the physicians at Mayo will get to the bottom of this. Please let us know how things develop.

MarionApril 29, 2013 at 1:55 pm #8299crissieSpectatorSo now my dad is having sweats, fainting and blurry vision. He had it where he fainted and hit his head on a nightstand. He went to the ER…and is at Mayo now. They did a CT scan no hematoma in the brain…no clots in the lungs.
Is this something that occurs with CC? Also his urine is still rusty even after the stent.
