    Hi Dnbeppler,

Welcome to the discussion board.  I noticed no one jumped in to provide info on TACE – here are some articles I found.

    https://www.cancer.org/cancer/liver-cancer/treating/embolization-therapy.html

    https://www.cancer.gov/publications/dictionaries/cancer-terms?cdrid=663330

Also, the websites for the major cancer hospitals generally have information for patients explaining the different available treatments.

    Regards, Mary

Welcome, dnbeppler.  I am so sorry your sister-in-law has been diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma.  She is in good hands at MDA.  I’m sure it will be very helpful to your sil for you to research this disease, treatments, etc.  we have many knowledgeable and caring members on this board.  I am not familiar with TACE but, hopefully, others will respond to you.

i wish your sister-in-law all the best.

What is the TACE procedure? My sister in law is 36 years old, who has  5 kids and diagnosed last month. We are on 4th round of chemo being treated at MD Anderson. I have joined this for some support , information and hope. I have a lot of faith and hope! New diagnosis is overwhelming there is so many different treatments I see people doing….

    Hi Brigette,

Excellent news, thanks loads for sharing that with us all! If your doctor is pleased with how it went then I am as well! I know it is not a cure as you say, but keeping things stable and as Catherine says, for the next 20 years or more then I would argue that that is the next best thing!

    Hugs,

    Gavin

    Brigette,

I’m so very happy for you that it’s over and your home.  We’ve also been fortunate to have met some very kind and compassionate health care workers over the past years.   I told Mom don’t worry about a cure-  we will be happy if her next remission is for 20-years or so.

    Best wishes.

    Catherine

I had the TACE procedure yesterday and this time they did it through the groin  area which meant I was anesthetized  The doctor was pleased with the procedure and is hopeful it will have good results. I came home today and aside from fatigued  I feel okay. It is not a cure but will keep CC under control. Next scan is in early February.  MD Anderson doctors and nurses are all so nice and treat their patients with respect and kindness.
