Elmoks – I’m sorry your Mom is having a hard time. I can’t be any help in regards to the fluid, since Dad hasn’t had that issue yet. I’m sure the tattoo will turn out amazing, but I’m not sure about the ribbon….

I’m planning a tattoo for Dad as well, but don’t plan to get it any time soon. Dad has always loved birds, so my brother and I plan to each get one of the cholangio tree with a bird flying above it (free from the cancer, so to speak). It will definitely be a “memorial” tattoo, and one I hopefully won’t be getting ANY time soon. It will be my one and only tattoo.

Good for you. I’m sure they will be great. :) My son is a tattoo artist and after my husband passed away he did a memorial tattoo on my shoulder. He also had a friend who used to work for him do a portrait tattoo on his shoulder a few days before he passed so his dad got to see it.

As to your mom’s issues, I can’t be of much help. In my husband’s case, once things got going everything went very quickly from one thing to another, but that is not always the case. Sometimes fluid can be drained. This type of cancer is so unpredictable and seems to affect everyone differently. Hopefully someone else will post that has had some experience with this. And no, needing to know is not crazy. It is this disease that is crazy.

Your Mom sounds like a strong lady who is doing the best she can. Good luck with the tattoo’s. :)

    Love & Hugs,
    Darla

My sisters and I are going to get “sister tattoo’s ” this coming weekend to honor our mom. I thought I had read the ribbon color for bile duct cancer was an emerald green. Can anyone tell me if that is right? We just want to make sure that we are getting the right color.

Mom is still rockin’ out, so to speak. This weekend was a little touch-n-go. Her little feet are so swollen its hard for her to walk to and from the bathroom. The hospice nurse started her on a lasik along with her diuretics that she’s already taking. I don’t know if it’s really helped the swelling at all, but she sure is going to the bathroom a lot, so maybe it is. They also brought out a bed side commode, but so far she’s hell bent against using it. The nurse also said that since there is fluid in her feet, legs and abdomen that depending on the progression of the disease the fluid could be in her lungs as early as this next week, is that true? And when its in her lungs what does that mean? I was a little afraid to ask, but now I feel the need to know. Is that crazy??

I wish there was a way that I could post pictures of our tattoos. Your all gonna LOVE them!!!
