I’m posting this in answer to a question raised by Sophie.
A few years ago my mom and dad decided to create a “love drawer”. It’s a two drawer file cabinet containing everything I would need if I had to settle their estate.
It contains everything from the names of accounts, personnal bankers, box numbers, passwords, inventory lists, keys, policies, – you name it.
They have planned their funerals, bought the plots, they even have the headstone and their names and birthdates on it.
All this was done in love with lots of planning over the years so that my sister and I will not have to stress anymore than necessary at their deaths. All their wishes are there, copies of powers of attorney, wills – you name it. As Daddy always tells me, “if it’s not in there it doesn’t exist.”
Here is a link that gives you pages to get you started on creating your own love drawer. I think it is one of the most special gifts a parent can give their children.

It’s a good starting point and you can customize it as you need to. And yes my husband and I need to get started on our own! *grin*
Hope this helps!
