February 15, 2013 at 9:06 pm #69016patti77SpectatorLanny, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear wife, Cindy. I wish I could find greater words of comfort to help you through this time. We lost my brother Bruce 4 weeks ago, and I have an understanding of the grief, emptiness and pervasive sadness that is washing over you right now. You were Cindy’s rock and hopefully you can find solace in the fact that you gave her every measure of your devotion over the past 39 years….especially the last two. Please know that I will add you and your family to my prayers for collective healing and a sense of peace, and for your memories of Cindy to live on within your heart.
God bless you and your family…
Patti

February 15, 2013 at 5:24 pm #69017kris00jSpectatorLanny: I never met your wonderful Cindy, but she was so special. She encouraged so many of us, and I loved seeing her posts of her grandchildren.
I am so glad to have had her in my life, as it was, and I pray that time will heal your wounds and you always remember the wonderful life you had with such a special lady.
Hugs to you and your family,February 15, 2013 at 5:22 pm #69018lainySpectatorDear Lanny and fAMILY, I am so very sorry to hear about Cindy. I know that you have already began walking the road of Memories and will forever keep Cindy at the for front of your hearts. I so relate to your comments about having made the last few years what Teddy called “our Honeymoon”. Those of us who can see past the bad stuff and hang on to the good are so very fortunate, indeed. It is a feeling that is unlike no other and will sustain us until we all meet again. My deepest thoughts go out to you, but they are filled with what I know you are already experiencing!
Letter from Heaven by Ruth Ann Mahaffey
To my dearest family some things I’d like to say
But first of all to let you know that I arrived okay,
I’m writing this from Heaven. Here I shall dwell with God above
Here, there’s no more tears of sadness. Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy because I’m out of sight
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and He said “I welcome you,
It’s good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone,
As for your dearest family, they’ll be here later on.
God gave me a list of things that he wished for me to do
And foremost on the list was to watch and care for you
And when you lie in bed at night, the days chores put to flight
God and I are closest to you . . in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears
But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
One thing is for certain though my life on earth is o’er
I’m closer to you now than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb
Together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
When you’re walking down the street and you’ve got me on your mind
I’m walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind
And when it’s time for you to go . . from that body to be free
Remember you’re not going . . you’re just coming here to me.February 15, 2013 at 4:58 pm #69019pamelaSpectatorDear Lanny,
Cindy was such a dear, sweet lady and will be sadly missed. I hope you keep posting pictures of your precious grandchildren on Facebook. I know they were Cindy’s pride and joy. Cindy always had such wonderful words of encouragement for Lauren and I am forever grateful to have had her as a friend. Take care, Lanny.
Love and hugs,
-PamFebruary 15, 2013 at 4:09 pm #7948candrewsSpectatorHi, I’m Lanny Andrews the husband of Cindy Andrews. Cindy passed in our home Feb 5th after a courageous 23 month brawl with intrahepatic CC. We married the month after high school graduation, (1974) and would have been married 39 years this June. I miss her more than words can describe. Reading thru some of her old posts, her spirit is obvious, rarley talking about her struggles but encouraging others.
I noticed her last post was in Sept. 2012 shortly before she elected to start a clinical trial, which was absolutely the sickest I ever saw her. The trial had no effect and hospice was recommended shortly before Christmas. She waited until the holidays were over to start in home hospice wanting Christmas at our home to be as normal as possible. The two year battle with CC was “our battle”. I took her to every appointment and toward the end was giving her shots daily for clots in her lungs and draing the fluid from her abdomen every other day. I thank God that we were in the financial position that I never had to be away from her during “our fight”. As close as we were the first 37 years of our marriage, the two years we fought CC together brought our relationship to an entirely new closeness.
I will always keep her in my heart and see her in the face of our 6 year old grandson Noah, he was Mammys boy. She also leaves grandsons 15 month old Colton and 8 month old Nolan and we are committed to keeping Mammy in their lives.
Lana (daughter), Zane (son) and myself sent her home with maybe the coolest funeral ever with two beautiful picture DVDs and over 400 minutes of her favorite music which included Led Zeppelin, Gregg Allman, Warron Zevon, Allman Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, Eric Clapton, The Beatles and on and on…she loved her music and she loved it loud, we were children of the late 60s early 70s after all. I am guessing at least 500 people paid her a final visit.
Her service opened with Kris Kristofferson signing “Loving Her Was Easier Than Anything I’ll Ever Do Again” and closed with Judy Collins beautiful version of “Amazing Grace”.
I have donations to the CC Foundation, collected at her funeral, and will be getting them in the mail soon. Thanks to all who conversed with Cindy, offering prayer and encouragement.
Lanny Andrews
