Welcome to the site. Sorry that you had to find us all but glad that you have posted after reading the site for some time. I can’t help you with your questions regarding chemo or theraspheres as my dad never had either, but as Lainy says, if you use the search engine then I know you will find discssions regarding both of these topics.
I hope that you keep coming back here and post away as you wil get a load of support from all of us. And please feel free to ask a load of questions as we will all help if we can.

Hello Cocoa and welcome to our wonderful family. Congratulations for being a 3 year survivor although I am sorry for all that you have had to go through. Not a journey anyone wants to take. If you type cisplatin i our search engine aboe you will get a ton of posts on that particular chemo. I am also sure you will be getting many answers to your questions now as it seems to be one of the cocktails used often by our family. Sending you best wishes and please keep us posted.
Cocoa, welcome to the site that no one really wants to join. My husband Tom is currently on a combo IV Chemo of Gemzar and Cisplatin. He just completed his 2nd chemo and so far, no hair loss, no nausea. So far he has said that Radiation was far worse than his oral chemo that he was on the first time and worse than the IV chemo combo that he is currently on. The only side effect that he has noticed is that his taste for food is ‘off’, and about three days after his IV chemo, he sleeps more than usual. Other than that, he is doing good.
He has not had any experience with theraspheres, but I do know that there are others on this site who have. If you type theraspheres in the search at the top of the page, you should get some posts regarding that.
I’m certain also that others will be posting regarding your questions.

Hi Cocoa – I have no experience with cisplatin, but my husband has had 3 series of gemzar with absolutely no ill effects. He did not have nausea, he did not lose his hair. Food has a bitter taste to him, but he had that before chemo so I don’t believe they are related. Congratulations on succeeding in the battle for such a long period. Let us know what else you learn about theraspheres. Hang in there, make the best informed decisions you can, and take comfort in knowing others care. Blessings, Susan
Hi – have visited this site before but this is my first time posting. I am a 52 year old woman who has been battling this disease since 2007. I have had surgery (x2), radiation, several rounds of chemo, and now it’s back with a vengeance after just having had surgery in June. I am trying to see if I qualify for theraspheres which is something new for cholangio and my oncologist wants me to go on cisplatin and gemzar. I am not excited about chemo again and especially after hearing some of the side effects of cisplatin. Any words of wisdom?
