Pam, my doc recommended ani-depressants a couple of years ago, as I was so stressed/distressed it was sending my blood pressure sky-high. I’m still on them. I also see a counsellor on a regular basis. There is no way I could have coped without help.

My love to you and Lauren xx

    Pam,
If you need something you should definitely get something. I wish I had taken something at times last year because I felt so stressed and over-burdened that I know I sometimes took it out on Tom or at least let him see that I was stressed and exhausted which just made him feel worse. I was also having menopausal symptoms so I was probably even more emotional than normal and in a lot of pain from my knee issues. After his death I took his ativan to help sleep and it really did help me sleep and cope better during the day. I don’t take anything now, just tylenol PM sometimes but I really recommend that you get something for your’s and Lauren’s sake. I’m sure she hates to see you stressed out. You can’t help it, I know, believe me!! You’re dealing with so much, it’s hard to keep it together all the time. None of us are superhuman that’s for sure. You feel like you need to be sometimes but there’s really only so much you can handle. Take care, I hope to meet you soon! Mary

    Hi Janet,

That is interesting what you say about reactive depression/anxiety. Do you have a few links that you recommend and could post up here if you have a minute or two?

    Thank you!

    Gavin

    Pam,
I deleted my post,I dont want to upset people with jokes about Americans abroad when they are not in the mood.
But I can help you with your mood problems as I have been through this and also coincidentally have done some recent training associated with my work,I am an RN.What you are suffering from is a reactive depression/anxiety state and no wonder with your child ill like this.
The best thing you can do is to get some help now at this point and recomendations would include excercise and relaxation techniques perhaps with antidepressants but tablets alone never work.Julia I know used flora to help and I find the sea very therapeutic Janet

Pam….you must remember that you have the right to get angry, be depressed, and express difficult feelings once in a while. You must also recognize the enormous stress you are under. Who would not be? This is your daughter you are worried about.
Be kind to yourself. I can’t think of a better time to use any aid available to help you cope and that includes the use of anti-anxiety drugs. Many people do just that.
    Hugs,
    Marion

You may be a Crabby Apple, but a cute one and I think sometimes we just deserve to be Crabby if we want. On the other tree, if you feel that you are really starting to loose your peel, and who wouldn’t, perhaps some mild happy pills would help for a bit. Doesn’t mean you have to stay on them forever. Afterall even apples need a good fertilizer now and then. OMG don’t tell me I really wrote that! Anxious to hear about Lauren’s results.

Ok that’s good Janet. Didn’t want to upset anyone. Sometimes it is hard to tell if people are kidding or not. Plus, everyone in my family keeps telling me I am super crabby. I think all the stress is finally getting to me. I try to handle it on my own but sometimes I feel like I am going to explode. I think I might need some happy pills or something. Does anybody else take antidepressants and do they help? We got into a traffic jam on the turnpike today for about an hour and were late for Lauren’s CT scan. I thought I was going to lose it!! Lauren kept telling me to calm down, but I was crazy. Something has got to give.

I just said Americans because that is where I am from and I know a lot compete and a lot of tourists will be coming over. I know other countries from all over the world come to compete and view the games , but I am not from those countries. That is why I asked specifically about Americans. I think Americans are fairly well behaved. There will just be a lot of us. I by no means meant to offend you by only mentioning the U.S.

    Hi Julia,

You are welcome and I mean it. You seem to find beauty in things that most people take for granted. You also have an artistic flair. I wanted to ask you how all of you are bracing for the bombardment of Americans for the Summer Olympics. I absolutely love watching them on tv. It would be awesome to see them in person, but probably really expensive. Plus, you wouldn’t get to see all the events like you do on tv. Take care my cool friend.

    Love, -Pam

I love it that I’m cool :). Thank you, Pam, you made my day!!

It’s so strange how, at times, I feel I’m turning into my sister :/ I’ve been to a couple of (pre-scheduled) birthday parties since she died and have found I’m energising everyone in the room – just like Sue used to do – whereas normally (over the past few years anyway) I would try and fade into a corner …

I miss her dreadfully, but can feel her presence all around me, so I’m not lonely – yet.

Janet, yes please – ANY tips to keep my energy up will be most welcome xx
