I see my onc and PA every two weeks. I am examined by both of them.

Marion – No…my dad sees an Oncologist at Kaiser

Thanks everyone for your insight…it had been on my mind and was wondering if that was a standard…good to know that there are other onc’s out there that do more than just the questions…

Both Teddy and I had the same ONC. The assistant checked vitals, the ONC talked to us about our LABS and what he thought and then he checked our stomachs. Always spent a good amount of time with us. He retired. New ONC did the same routine.

Lauren usually sees a Physician’s Assistant first. They ask a ton of questions and examine her. Then her Oncologist comes in and asks her a bunch of questions and also examines her. So by the time we are done, she has been thoroughly examined!! We see them once, sometimes twice a month.

Interesting. That was not the case with my husband. We would see the oncologist for consultation and exam every three weeks.

My oncologist rarely examines me. That’s what her nurses and practitioners are for. They tell her what they found and talked to me about and I usually only get about 5 minutes with her. Unless there’s a problem.

but, I have been wondering if other folks’ Oncologists are “hands-off” so to speak…in that they don’t actually physically examine their patients??
