Thank you for all your support. We did ask if it could be the stent but the Onc said the scan didn’t throw up any concerns about the stent & that there was no evidence of sludge.

Once the Chemo restarted, she felt so much better, so quickly, that it seems to reinforce that view.

Andrea – thank you for the info about the new trial. I looked into it but I don’t think she would qualify because of “spots” elsewhere. I do appreciate you looking out for new trials, though. I’m thinking of you & your dad.

Kris – I love your daffodil pic!!

My very best to you all

    Juila,
I am disappointed and sorry with your news. You and your sister hang strong since nobody knows what the future holds.

    Julia,

I had to laugh at the toxic boyfriend! Very cute! Whenever we get a discharge from the hospital, I always tell my dad “no more Club Med service”…

Hope your sister responds quickly and is feeling better!

    Hi Julia,

Thinking of you during this little ‘set back’ but with yours and your sisters fighting spirit I’m sure toxic boyfriend will be kicked into touch!

Just wondering like Gavin said, does your sisters stent need cleaning out, due to the itchiness? also there was supposed to be a new ABC03 trial starting in November, would your sister qualify for this, as it’s been over 6 months since she had her original chemo, just a thought.

    Sending big hugs your way

Julia, these boys, just like a man! Didn’t he understand a break-up is a break-up! Tell Susan to take her cocktail and kick Boy Friend to the curb!

    Oh Julia,

I too am so sorry to hear that Susan has had this set back. Hopefully it is just a bump in the road and things will improve soon once she is back on the cocktail. I will be thinking of you and Susan and hoping for the best of results on this currrent regime. Hang in there.

    Love & Hugs,
    Darla

    Hi Julia,

Sorry to hear that Susan had an iffy scan and that she is feeling not so good right now. If I recall correctly, Susan had a metal stent did she not, or am I mistaken? If so did her doctors look into the stent to see if it is/getting clogged as this could be why she has the itching right now.

Fingers crossed as you say that the gem/cis combo is just as effective once again. Your description of a “toxic boyfriend” made me laugh, but lets hope that this toxic boyfriend will do a lot of good!

My best wishes to you and Susan,

    Gavin

Sorry to hear this about your sister. Those seven months must have been great and I hope that the gem/cis works just as well, if not better, than before.

Keep your cocoon cobweb-free and warm, I’m sure you’ll be there again soon.

    best wishes

I have no idea why, but one of my sister’s close friends has taken to referring to her Chemotherapy as “Toxic Boyfriend” – I think it may have something to do with the amount of time & energy she spends on it, without it appearing to make her happy at all ;)

Anyway, she’s been feeling unwell lately – itching, chronic fatigue, itching, itching & more itching – so, after an iffy scan result (“new peritoneal spots”), she’s back with Toxic Boyfriend from Monday :(

Since her last cycle ended in April, she’s been stable for 7 months. The docs have been very pleased with that, so they’re putting her back on the same Gem/Cis cocktail. Fingers crossed it’s as effective again.

This latest result has knocked us all off-balance again. I think we’d managed to convince ourselves that, somehow, “our” cc would be different, that, somehow, she/we would beat all the odds. It’s a nasty blow to be hit over the head with a reality brick, when you’ve built yourself a comfortable little cocoon & snuggled down into it for a few months.

I’m not putting a “for sale” sign on my little cocoon yet, though. Hopefully, there’ll be time for all of us to take a break from reality every so often &, although I’ve been wrenched out of it for a while, it’s warm & cosy & it’s free for any of you to snuggle into, if you’re in need of a break, too.
