    Daisy,

I had a resection in December 2009, with a reoccurrence in my lungs in March of 2010. I wanted to initially go straight to a clinical trial but my insurance wouldn’t cover it so I did the Gem/Cis for about 6 months until toxicity set in from the Cisplatnin. I then did Gem alone, in which tumors started to grow. …..after that I did about 6 months of Taxotere until toxicity got to me once again. I then found on my own the immunotherapy trial at NIH….I did all the work, but agree with Marion that if your physician is on board it helps so much to have them involved in pursuing the clinical trial.

Daisy…..we have a running feed on our site to the clinicaltrials.gov website. Please see below:

Your Mom’s treating physician should be involved.
    Hugs,
    Marion

As for us, Daisy, nothing would have helped BUT it appears on this Board that some seek their own and others have ONCs that do it. Try using the Sear button and type in Trials. I am sure a ton of posts will appear. Best of luck!

When It comes to trials do you seek them out or your doctor? And the combo gem/cis has been the standard but the cis part has been debated? Any thoughts?

Daisy, Teddy had a Whipple and the CC returned 3 years later and they performed Cyber Knife. The tumor must be under 6CM.

I had a clean resection in Jan 2014 and recurrence of a 1.5cm tumor in peritoneal cavity in Jan 2015. I’m now on the “standard” chemo plan of gem/cis for a few months.

I’d recommend testing of your mom’s new tumor for genetic mutations via FoundationOne and then a targeted therapy approach via clinical trial, if possible.

If mine doesn’t spread I will have it resected (my “Plan A”), otherwise, this is the route that I will go as well. I’ve already had the genetic testing and identified several trials as my “Plan B”.

My mother has had a reoccurrence and I am taking a poll on those of you that have had a resection with a reoccurrence. What treatments and or surgeries did you receive? Success etc?
3 lymphs are involved and a 1 1/2 cm lesion. Any information would be greatly appreciated,
