This is very coonfusing to be sure. I just talked to my surgeon today and asked about RFA if they cant remove the tumor. He was very negative about it and suggested SIRT spheres instead. Basically he said RFA wasnt so good with this type of cancer, yet I too have read the studies that say it is. perhaps each drs ideas are based more on their eye-witnesses than in studies that are usually small.

March 17, 2010 at 4:38 pm #36571marionsModeratorHello Mike….I would like to echo everyone else and welcome you to our site. I am a strong believer in second, third or, even more opinions as specialist vary greatly in their approaches with this disease. This is a good time to gather all records pertaining to this cancer including, blood test, CT scans, MRI’s, doctor’s reports, etc. This information will need to be forwarded to the requesting physicians.
Best wishes coming your way,

Welcome to the site, although I am sorry that you have to be here. I was my dads carer during his fight with CC but he never had RFA so I can’t help you with your question regarding that, but I am sure that others will be able to help. I hope that you keep coming back here as you will get a load of support and help from us all.
My best wishes to you,
Gavin
March 17, 2010 at 3:38 am #36567lainySpectatorHello Mike and welcome to our wonderful Family! Please try our search engine at the top of the page and type in any words and you will get posts on that subject. Honestly, we don’t believe in statistics as we have some people who were given months and are here after years. Can you tell us a little more? Where do you live? Do you have a game plan? Have you gotten a second opinion? If you can tell us a little more about your situation we would be able to help a little more. While we are not doctors you will find the most caring people here from all over the World. I am glad you found us but sorry you had to.
March 17, 2010 at 2:44 am #3312mikeSpectatorI have read conflicting reports on the survival rates for intraseptic peripheal cholangiocarcinoma (im sure I mispelled all of that).
I have read that there is no chance for long term survival without actually removing the tumor. I have also read that RFA can kill the tumor. Im confused.
