In PubMed when an article title is in [brackets] it means that it is in a language other than English. But as Mary noted there will sometimes be an English abstract. You can find other articles on the topic by looking at “Related Articles” (to the right of the listed article) and if you click on “See all…” it will give you a list of more articles on the topic. You can then click on “Free Full Text” on the left sidebar and that will filter the results to articles that are available free of charge. Cheers, Tilly

I also tried to look for the article and the original appears to come from a Japanese-language publication. Sometimes PubMed includes English-language abstracts for articles in a foreign language.

Glad to be of help if I can. Yes, the issue of accessing the full piece rather than just the abstract and having to pay the cost of it is one that crops up a lot unfortunately. Usually you can look around on google to see if there is another link which I did for you but couldn’t find one. You could try searching through this link though Janice and see if that throws anything up for you.
Hopefully something will come up there.
