Hello Hello !
Third round of chemo down !
One more to go … Alfa Fetoprotein has gone down to 85 ! which is great !
Still fighting nausea and stomach pains … but nothing too bad …
Next chemo is next week and will have a check up as well. After that I have no idea what they will do to me ! hope the freaking tumors stay away this time !
Sending you guys all my loving !May 12, 2016 at 10:58 pm #91830marionsModeratorAlejandro….agree with Debbie, make sure to mention to the physician herbs or anything else you might be taking. Steroids are part of your treatment to help destroy cancer cells and make chemotherapy more effective and help reduce an allergic reaction to certain chemotherapy drugs.
Unfortunately the side effect is sleeplessness. May likely be the reason for your wondering around this time at night.
Also, try to drink enormous amounts of fluids to flush the chemo through your system. Just when you think you had enough, add a bit more. This helps you feel better and flushes your kidneys. Moderate activities are beneficial as well. Hoping for the nausea to stay at bay.
You are doing great.

The decline in AFP is encouraging, good for you!
I have never heard of the supplement you mentioned. I would check it out carefully before taking anything though. Maybe others or your doctor have heard of it.

May 11, 2016 at 7:52 am #91828araproSpectatorHello hello !
And so I’m back ! From the second round of chemo Folfox.
At the moment it’s 3:48 am in Caracas, woke up at two and can’t get back to sleep.
I feel pretty tired from the chemo, and have had some troubles with nausea. Other than that my alpha fetoprotein went down to 400 from 850 with one chemo which is good. Now two more rounds of chemo in the next month and another check up.
A friend of mine gave me a bottle of pills called 4life transfer factor plus, has anyone had any experience with it ?Sending best vibes to all here
Alejandro

MarionApril 20, 2016 at 7:23 pm #91823araproSpectatorI haven’t been completely honest I lost my hair when I was 21 ! I was letting it grow again but I look like a crazy monk !!
April 20, 2016 at 7:17 pm #91822marionsModeratorAlejandro………I am thrilled to hear of the MSK physicians direct contact with your home team. Crossing my fingers for the rest to fall in place as well. Hoping for medications to keep the side effects at bay. “Will I loose my hair” is the most frequently asked question , so you are not alone. Ice caps for chemo patients appear to have some positive results for some.
Good luck and please stay in touch; we are in this together.
HugApril 20, 2016 at 12:16 pm #91821araproSpectatorThanks DebNorCal ! and Lainy … yes I a have to find the spanish version …. that would be fun !
marions, the team exists ! I had this treatment last year, plus a laparatomy where they removed 45% of my liver plus my gallbladder. The situation now is that access to US currency to import these materials and medicines is very hard. So I have to be careful !
But the team here at NY MSK is already talking to my team in Venezuela to get me everything I need to start Chemo on this coming monday !
On the other hand I am not too keen on starting and feeling the side effects of the chemo …. makes me want to puke and I will loose my hair again ! ( it was growing beautifully ) but hey what can you do right ?April 19, 2016 at 5:30 pm #91820marionsModeratorAlejandro….the hepatic arterial infusion pump should be offered in the context of a multidisciplinary program that includes expertise in hepatobiliary surgery, medical oncology, interventional radiology, nursing, and nuclear medicine.
Is such a team available in Caracas?
Please take a look at the following:

MarionApril 19, 2016 at 2:22 pm #91819lainySpectatorAlejandro, YES, you will SURVIVE. There was a very popular song by Tina Turner, “I WILL SURVIVE” and you could make that your theme song!
April 19, 2016 at 2:10 pm #91818debnorcalModeratorAlejandro,
I second everything that Lainy said. You had good response last time and I hope you have a good response to treatment again this time. Many of our patients manage this as a chronic disease very successfully.
I like your positive attitude!
April 19, 2016 at 1:07 pm #91817araproSpectatorThank you Lainy !
I will survive ! -
