Julie very good way to state about stress. Thanks for that it sounds reasonable to me! Have a stupendous weekend!

    Hi,

I just wanted to add a point about stress though not directly related to cellular memory. I’m reading a very good book called “Why Zebras don’t get Ulcers” by Dr. Sapolsky at Stanford which is a fun and informative read on what stress is, how it impacts our bodies and our well being. It’s well researched and scientific, not pseudo science. And what I’ve gathered so far is that stress not necessarily a direct reason for diseases, but if a person is in an extended state of stress, the impact on us physically and mentally can be very debilitating, to the point where it alters the way our body defends itself and significantly affect how effective our immune system performs etc.

Another way to think about it is – during a football game, the performance related stress can turn the body into a heightened state that leads to an athlete’s optimal results, but if your body is in that state for an extended period of time (say, as a result something very emotionally absorbing like a difficult divorce or terrible boss that hovers over you all day long) then those stressors eventually tire your body out and make it more susceptible. And when our bodies are susceptible, diseases are more likely to manifest.

I hope this helps, one layman to another.

    Julie

    Congratulations on a great benefit.
As far as stress… Yes, I believe stress can aid the cancerous cells in forming/growing. Women who carry extra weight a certain way are said to have more stress. They call it “stress weight” I think.
Anyway, I believe stress accounts for lots of maladies. As far as a cure for $199??? Sounds too good to be true, so it probably is. Too good to be true, that is. If it was true, I would think it would be the best thing since sliced bread and it would go viral.
    Just my opinion.

Stress is bad for all sorts of reasons, but I don’t believe that stress causes cancer or makes it worse. However, it may detract from the quality of your life. For the record, some stress is needed to live otherwise we would sit on our couches and do nothing.

As you can probably tell, I am not a fan of these kinds of “fixes”.

WOW! Congrats on a successful benefit, well deserved and glad you can now get that 2nd opinion! As far as Cellular Memory, I researched it and its been talked about but there has be no proof it works. It could hold some interest for long down the road but not at this time. There’s an old saying, “if it’s too good to be true, it probably is not true”. If it was true, and the talk has been around for years, I am sure some Doctors somewhere would be using it. Yes, stress can cause or add to diseases like my Colitis but I heave learned to block it out. I just decided I am not going under due to stress that someone is causing me. Of course my address book is getting very thin but I just try so hard not to stress anymore. Let us know what happens about another opinion and wishing you the best.

Well the benefit was great, I am blown away by everyone’s kindness. They raised over $6000 for us. We can get a second opinion now. We are going to wait till the next MRI to see what it says before going. That’s a month and a half away. Okay now for a question. I had an email sent to me today regarding “cellular memory”. Basically it’s assertion is that every disease especially cancer occur because of our cells are remembering and storing internal stress from previous trauma. And that if you pay $199 they’ll teach you the technique to change your cell’s memory. Anyone ever heard of this. It makes some sense to me since is has been a long time established fact that stress can cause disease. The fact that they want $200 for the info is disconcerting. What do ya’ll think?

Denise, ha, ha! You are too funny. Hope you got some sleep and perhaps a couple of power naps today won’t hurt. Wishing you a ton of best wishes for tonight! Let us know how it all went.

OH YEAH!! ANC is 2600!! So I got chemo and I get to go the benefit Saturday night. I fell asleep on the couch and then moved to bed, now I’m wide awake so I just decided to check in. I’m on my decatron high! But gotta get to sleep. Thanks for this great place to come to share. I see breast cancer stuff all over Mayo when I’m there, and I must say I feel left out. there is nothing locally for us, so I’m so grateful for this group of people. Good Night!! Or should I say Good Morning? Denise

Florida is a little far! I hope things go well with you. Stable is a good word around here! Just stay positive! I know, it’s hard when chemo makes you feel like crap, but it’s for a good cause.
I hope the fundraiser is a roaring good time. I’d be there singing if I could.

Dboms, stable is good! Perhaps this next round will do cause shrinkage. The other good part is there are other Chemo Combos that can be tried.
How absolutely wonderful that your coworkers and friends are doing this Fundraiser for you. That is beautiful and you must be one really nice person to have this done for you. Too bad Kris didn’t know she probably would have driven down, she is our Karaoke Queen! Keep your spirit up and be strong and I am sure Friday will be excellent and I sure hope you are able to attend.

Well, I haven’t been around on the forum lately, things are moving along. I feel useless and want to go back to work, but I just don’t have the stamina. I have had three rounds of chemo and by the third day, I am in bed feeling like crap. My counts have bounced around some especially my potassium level. It was good today in the normal range, but my wbc count was very low putting my ANC at 1100, which is almost neutropenic. I’m supposed to have chemo on Friday, but if counts go down any further it will be held. Some coworkers and friends are hosting a fund raiser for me on Saturday night where there will be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle music, dancing and of course karaoke as I am big into that. I hope I’m going to be able to go. I had an MRI yesterday to see what the radiation did to the tumor. It showed no new growth, but the tumor has not changed. It has only been 5 weeks since the SBRT, but was hoping really bad that the tumor had shrunk enough to operate. Well, no such luck. So it will be rechecked in two months. We were all some deflated and upset by the news. CANCER SUCKS BIG TIME. I hate it!
