    Hi,
    Treatment of UTI depends on symptoms;did she have a low grade fever or otherwise?
    Did she have burning sensation when urinated?If so, ask doctor to prescribe pyridium and take it three times a day for 5-7days;
    keep hydrated(6-8glasses of fluids/day);
    Did she have a urine culture before starting antibiotics like Bactrim DS or Septra DS? and what are the culture report says?
    God bless.

    Melissa, my Mom used to get UTI every time I iturned around! She never drank enough water, however, the Doctor would always put her on Cipro and it took the UTI right away.

    Hi Melissa,

    Sorry to hear about your mums UTI. I assume that your mums doctor knows about this? I found this link that may be of use to you and I do hope that this can be sorted out as soon as possible. Also, have you used the search forum function here at the site as that will throw up any relevant discussions.

    So my mom now has a UTI for the last 2 weeks and it is making it really hard for her to go to sleep because she is so uncomfortable at night. She has been on meds the whole time and they are helping a little but not entirely.

    My mom just completed her second round of chemo so we are new to all this but is healing slower something that we can expect in general now because her white blood cells are decreased from the chemo?

    And besides cranberry juice and probiotics, does anyone know of anything else she can try?

    Thanks,

    Melissa
