    I’m so saddened by the news of Val’s death. We talked on facebook a couple of times and shared drainage tube stories. I hadn’t heard from her in quite a while. I hope her death was painless.

    Julia,

    I guess I had Tuesday & Thursday confused. In any event, thanks for the information. I feel so badly for her family. She always seemed so positive. I never expected she wouldn’t make it through this procedure. Glad her brother was able to have a good conversation with her before she passed. That will be something for him to remember and cherish. My sympathy to all of her family and friends.

    Love & Hugs,
    Darla

    Julia,

    Thank you for letting us know about Val’s passing. It is so sad and she will be missed by so many. It was only Monday when she was talking on facebook about going into hospital, very sad indeed. My thoughts are with Val’s family right now.

    Julia….I am heartbroken to hear of Val’s passing. I so much wish to have met her in person. Her fighting spirit and unending sense of humor has left big footprints on our site. May she rest in peace. On behalf of The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation I would like to extend my most sincere sympathy to her family.
    Love,

    Thank you for that wonderful poem, Lainy. It made me cry & then it made me happy.

    Darla, her brother phoned this afternoon. Val had the resection on Tuesday as planned, but remained in Intensive Care until she died on Thursday. Neil said it was very fast. He had a good conversation with her on Wednesday but her bilirubin was massively high & it seems the strain on her kidneys was too much.

    I really will miss her so much.

    Oh Julia,
    Thanks for posting this. That is so sad. I also met her here and on Facebook and saw that she was going in on Thursday but expected to be home on Friday. May she rest in peace after a courageously fought battle.

    Julie, I am so sorry to hear about Val. Another great hero who fought this insane battle.

    Rest Peacefully Val:

    Do not stand at my grave and weep;
    I am not there. I do not sleep.
    I am a thousand winds that blow.
    I am the diamond glints on snow.
    I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
    I am the gentle autumn’s rain,
    When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
    I am the swift uplifting rush
    Of quiet birds in circled flight.
    I am the soft stars that shine at night.
    Do not stand at my grave and cry;
    I am not there. I did not die.

    It is with very great sadness that I must tell you that Valerie Mutton died on Thursday night. She was an amazing fighter whom I met on these boards & was lucky enough to meet in person to celebrate her 50th birthday last year. Dearest Val, I don’t know how I would have got through the last 2 years without you & your wonderful strength & humour. Rest In Peace, dear Val. XXX
