    Hi Mimi,

I am glad to hear that your nan is feeling better today and I hope that the new meds do their job. And I am also very happy to hear that your nan was hungry and is asking for food. I always used to smile when my dad was complaining about being hungry and was wanting food, as it meant that he was feeling a bit better!

My best wishes to you and your nan,

    Gavin

thank you so much Kris and Gavin for your support. Hospice gave my grandmother some new medication to help her be more comfortable and Nan is feeling much better today, even talked about food she was hungry for. I reminded my grandmother and her caregivers that hopsice is there to make Nan comfortable and that they should not wait to call hospice.

    Mimi,

I also agree with what Marion and Kris say regarding these symptoms, my dad also had them. There are meds that can help with pain and vomitting and I am sure that your nan’s hospice care will do everything possible to keep your nan comfortable.

Let us know if there is anything that we can do to help.

    Mimi,
Marion is right, those are the classic symptoms of advacement. I know that although you knew this would be happening, it still must be hard to take in. We are all here for you.

thank you Marion, I am expecting a call from hospice this morning with an update. It is so strange how quickly this has happened but from reading posts here it seems that is the nature of CC.

Mimi….pain radiating to the back (spine) and vomiting may very well be related to advancement of the disease, as is the vomiting and the increase in temperature. Hospice should do anything to keep your Nan comfortable.
    My heart is with you,
    Marion

My grandmother, who I call “Nan”, was diagnosed with CC in mid-January of this year. She decided not to treat and is in hospice care at home. We were told that she had 1-2 months (at least that is the prognosis that we heard from most of the physicians that saw her) but until recently she seemed very strong and *almost* like her old self. However, in the last couple of days she has had back pain and today she vomited several times and is running a temp of 101 F. She is in Pennsylvania and I am in Illinois so her hospice caregivers are my eyes and ears. Cancer is so invisible in a way but I think that what she is experiencing right now is the cancer advancing. Any insights from this wonderful community would be most appreciated. Best, Mimi
