clkempf, Dr. Tomoaki Kato at NY Presbyterian has operated on patients with lesions around the vena cava with success. Contact info for him is below my name in the signature. He’s a brilliant surgeon who takes intelligent risks and has the skills to back it up.

    Good luck.

CLKemp….you already have eliminated four out of five tumors. There is no reason to think that further treatments will not be equally as successful. Don’t let it beat you down. You have opportunities here. Gather your information from various sources. You might also want consider making an appointment with our Kris’s surgeon. Don’t take off the boxing gloves.
    Hugs and love,

    CLKEMPF:
Where is the tumor wrapped? Mine is around the vena cava, but with chemo has shrunk enough that my surgeon is confident he can get most of it and will burn or electrocute the cells he can’t remove. My tumor is down to approx. 3×2.5cm or so. I have another CT scan Monday to get a new reading n the situation then resection in March.
But the news that chemo has worked so well is wonderful!! Let your surgeon guide you and get a second opinion if you are not comfortable.

Dear CLKLEMPF, I am so sorry, wish you had better news BUT you at least have options. My husband had Cyber Knife. His CC had reappeared where his duodenum used to be and was not wrapped. Cyber Knife is a procedure that only takes 3 – 5 visits. They plant a few gold tiny posts, like needles to guide the laser. The next procedure is the C.K. itself. There are basically no side effects. They did give Teddy something for nausea but he never got sick. You get tired but not as bad as chemo. It is truly a miracle procedure. I believe the only qualifications are that the CC has not MET to other places and that the mass itself is under 7CM. Which Mayo are you visiting? I have never heard of an alcohol treatment.
