Arrrrrgh! I have been on Oxaliplatin & Xeloda since February of this year. Honestly, I have not had any of these horrible side effects that all of you are speaking about. A little tingling in the fingers, mouth and lips for 2 out of the 3 weeks is usually it. I must be the exception to the rule? Hang in there Pamela, I believe Lauren will do great!

Yes, I was on Irinotecan for approx. 3 months, December thru February. I had SEVERE diarrhea which resulted in my potassium level dropping very low. I also spent 3 weeks on the couch because I was too weak to get up. I did not have any pain or vomiting. My oncologist did lower my dose of the Irinotecan by 1/2 and gave my an Rx for lomotil which controlled the diarrhea. Topcatj, I will add Dennis to my prayer list.

Well, today was a piece of cake. There were 2 tumors, not 3, like I thought I heard, and my back is all marked up. The worse part was that my hands and arms went to sleep while I was lieing on my stomach.
Thanks for all of your kind thoughts and prayers. We’ll see what day #2 brings!

Yup, got those taters planted today, and some flowers too. Tomorrow, I think I’ll plant more flowers and more green onions. I know some of you folks out there are getting too much rain. Would you please be so kind as to send it my way to Indiana? We need it badly!

Thanks everyone! I felt real good about the visit yesterday. I told my husband that I was prepared for what ever news the oncologist had to give me. If it was bad, I was not going to get mad or sad. I am not going to let this get me down. And Pam, today I am planting potatoes in the garden!

I love your good news Tiffany! I also like that Dr. Javle said that he has seen people with CC live many, many years! That gives me hope!

Wish I had the answer Kris, but I don’t. I have been married to the same guy for almost 38 years. Good luck!

I asked my oncologist months ago, why do people always say “Well, you look good”? He said because they don’t know what else to say, and that he hears this same question all of the time from his patients. I learned to just smile and answer back, “thank you”. Amen to your venting Kris. I look at my eyes in the mirror every day too. And every morning when I open my eyes, I thank God for giving me another day on earth!
    Hang in there!

Kris, I love ice cream too, and this sounds wonderful. But, must pass on it at this time as it would make my mouth “too tingly”. LOL!

Sue and her friends did a great job of organizing this event. Looking forward to next year. I plan on being there!

    Tiffany:
I started taking Irinotecan/Xeloda in December. The worse side effects I had was diarrhea, so dosage of both were adjusted accordingly, and some peeling of fingertips which I believe was caused by the Xeloda. @ Sallapa I just started on Oxaliplatin/Xeloda last Friday. The Oxaliplatin causes the tingling in hands, fingers and feet, also the sensitivity to cold. How is it working for your sister?
Tiffany, everytime my oncologist switches my chemo treatment, I get printouts from http://www.chemocare.com and http://www.uptodate.com
Those websites might be helpful and you can look at them as you feel like it. Extra prayers being sent to you Tiffany!
