    Hi to all;

    First of all sorry for the delay. Today is one of those days when you feel something like what people call happiness.

    In July my mother was the in first appointment with the surgeon after the surgery(october 2009) and six months of GEMZAR. That day she was told to take a blood test and a scanner for September. Today has been the day to know the results and they are correct.The new scan, blood test and surgeon appointmente will be in January without any additional treatament.She said doctor that sometimes she has stomach discomfort answering that “this is normal after this huge surgery”
    After one year of surgey my mum

    Hi;

    After appointment with gynecologist, he told her that everything was ok(thank goodness) and the swallen estomach would be for the surgery and quimio.
    At the moment the swelling is not really big but this is enough to disturb a litle bit my mom.

    As you know next week we have appointment with the surgeon. I hope he can say her what to do about this and next steps regarding revisions and so on in addition.

    Thanks to all of you.

    Hi Gavin;

    Then it could be important. In the last scan where the result of the scanner said very shortly “no evidence of disease” oncologist told my mum that there was something (not very important according to her) in the ovaries and that it would be suitable an appointment with thh gynecologist(this thrusday).

    I dont know if the swallen stomach could have some reltion with this and not with the last quimio.

    By the way, she is doing a normal life and i

    Hi;

    Yesterday my mum told me that one month after the completion of chemo she still has stomach swollen. Is this normal?

    Next week we have the first appointment with the surgeon after eight months.

    Thanks for your time;

    Hello Lainy, I just book a personal appointment with the oncologist next week.My mom now is waiting for appointement with the surgeon after six month.
    Right now I’m a bit lost with the following steps. Even with a clean PET Scan, would not be better to continue with the chemo knowing that there were two positive nodes? On the other hand I have heard that Gemzar, if effective, is not beyond six months. Maybe there is another medication that does not have many side effects …

    As you see, I’m in a mess.

    Thanks for read me;

    Good news, the results of the scanner say very shortly “no evidence of disease” and after six months chemo is canceled and from now surgeon will monitor her.
    In recent months she has always accompanied by my dad, and i don

    Hi;

    The appointment that we had was suspended until Friday because “our” oncologist could not come and did not want us to be attended for another person.

    How would you face the two possible scenarios;

    Good results. no sign of tumor, maintain or suspend chemo?

    Bad results: Tumor has recurred, maintain the same chemo, change it, suspend?

    Thanks for your time.

    Hello to all of you and sorry for the time without inform. After 6 months/ GEMZAR cycles (30 minutes per week) tomorrow we have an appointment with oncologist for the results of last week’s scanner. Tell you that during these six months my mother has coped quite well chemotherapy (isolated cases of fever…) making a living relatively normal. Previous scanner (four months after the operation, Klatskin tumor with two positive nodes) came out clean and the blood test in these months have been within normal limits.

    In the previous appointment oncologist commented that treatment was over and from now she should have routine checks directly with the surgeon.

    Logically without having the results yet, what would you advice me according to your experience?

    Thanks in advance;
    Carlos

    Hi Marion;

    In Spain you have assigned an hospital by default but you have the option of changing(called second opinion) to another one that have more experience in the disease. Of course, if you have money you can go directly to a private one. But in Spain the the quality(doctors skills, devices..) difference between public/state and private is nothing, the only one(very important indeed) is that in a private hospital everythig is faster.
    We ask for second opinion for the surgery but because of massification we returned to the original hospital for oncology. I don

    Thanks a lot for your support.

    The recovery is being very good without any problem until now and the decision about therapy is near.
    Today we have been with the surgeon first time after my mom left hospital.The situation is a little special since surgeon and oncologist are from different hospitals, why this is another matter.

    The problem of this is that today, for example, surgeon didn

    Hi;

    This first meeting has been used by the oncologist as an initial data collection(general feeling after surgery…)
    Because of surgery is very recent and she is still too weak, oncologist has decided to wait a little bit and at the end of this month make new test bloods and scan and so decide about the therapy with more data.

    As Oncologist knew that my mom doesn
