I am a 88 year old male who was diagnosed with Cancer (bile duct) in 2002 and Whipple Surgery was done on January 30 of 2002. Yes I am a survivor and a very fortunate person. My surgery was done at the VA hospital in Loma Linda California and my surgeon’s named is Mark Reeves Md PhD. I spent 4 days in ICU and then two weeks in the hospital Surgery ward. A feeding tube was installed during surgery. I was discharged with two drains and the feeding tube. I had a caregiver for a couple weeks and then was on my own. I did not have to do any Chemo. Living alone for many years had got me used to self reliance so I have done very well and except for having a friend drive me to the early hospital appointments, I have done very well on my own. I’m now almost 88 years old and am still thriving but my age has caused me to get a little in- home help and my only medical appointments are for a doctor appointment one time each year.
