My dad passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 24th, 2008. He was diagnosed on November 14, 2008.
Thank you all for sharing your stories and I continue to pray for all familes battling cancer.
God Bless,
Kelly
dzkhMemberMy dad had his in for about 4 weeks with leakage once.
He just experienced some internal bleeding b/c the tube was rubbing on something inside causing an ulcer. So now now external bag – just stents on both sides…
dzkhMemberMy dad had his stents done by Dr. Parsons at Nortwest Community in Arlington Heights….
The stents did not work though for him so he had to have a tube placed to drain the bile…
dzkhMemberWhat a roller coaster!
Dad went from losing 10 lbs. in one week and not eating or drinking to only losing 2 lbs. the next week. I think the pain meds are starting to feel good b/c he is talking more.
I am looking for anyone with an experience like mine to let me know the downfall…

Thank you so much for sharing this information. What was happening when he started to slip? My dad just started the pain meds after the drain and he just stays in bed all day and has not been eating much the past week. He is still able to talk and crab about us trying to get him to eat.
We are really confused as to how to manage his care and who should be at this point.
He does not have any other pain but the shoulder….he just looks and acts bad. Where do you live?
Thanks again,
Kelly
dzkhMemberThanks Charlene…
Can you let me know the name of the doctor and the hospital?
What stage was he in? Had the cancer spread?
dzkhMemberDoes the live chat work on this? When I go to it, i am the only person there…
dzkhMemberWanted to share that my dad started experiencing sharp shoulder pain too. The docot prescribed the extended realease oxy today.
If Alice is reading this – please share more. I am afraid my dad is getting much worse and nobody can tell us anything about the progression of the disease.

I am so sorry for your loss.
My dad was diagnosed 11/07 – chemo has not started yet.
He is now losing his appetite and is in a lot of pain. Can you share anything like that you may have gone through?
The doctors don’t seem to want to let us know what is happening. Other than blood work, he has only met with the oncologis twice since the beginning of December.
Thanks again,
Kelly
dzkhMemberThanks so much for your replies.
He had a drain put in that is helping and he might get some chemo finally.
I am afraid he is getting worse fast.
Can anyone share the progression and what has happened with a loved one?
dzkhMemberAlison,
Do you still read this site?

My dad was diagnosed about 6 weeks ago with a klatskin tumor that is on the liver and the lymph nodes. No surgery option. We were told chemo would prolong lofe 6-12 months.
He had plastic stents put in in November and Metal stents in December. After 6 weeks, the jaundice is still not any better and the itching has begun.
They have not started chemo b/c of the jaundice.Anyone ever been in this situation?
