heatherMemberDaisy,
I hope things get better for your Mom, I know it must be really hard to leave her right now. My husband Gordon is getting ready to have his liver resection done on Tuesday. His tumor is 8cm, he has had chemo. He will be having it done at Md Anderson with Dr. Vauthey, we really like him. This Dr. Chapman sounds amazing!! That would have probably been our third opinion if we didn’t like what MD Anderson had to say. I pray things get better for you, what a blessing you have someone to help while your gone. I am in contact with someone on here that is becoming one of my sweetest friends I hope to meet her in person one day. Susan Le she doesnt get on here alot but this site is a blessing!!! Take care, sorry for the rambling!!!

heatherMemberYay!! So glad to hear this!! Your a special lady Lainy!! I hope your feeling better by the time you read my post!!
Not hard to love you!!
Heather
heatherMemberThank you, yes Lainy I am getting very anxious as is Gordon. im dreaming about it. The other thing I forgot to mention is Dr. Vauthey said there is a 90% chance that the surgery will be done, so I guess I should be happy about that, right?
And Mark your right…Gordon never got a prognosis before but knew surgery was his best chance.
I guess I need to let go let God….I feel like we are on pause in a movie right now.
Good luck to you Mark we pray this nasty cancer stays away..

heatherMemberTiffany,
I just read up about your transplant! He doesn’t give up does he!! I am so thrilled for you! I thought my husband was young at 44 my goodness your just a baby dealing with this!! I pray you stay cancer free and Dr. Javle showes us those pics!! LOL
Are you still in Houston now?
here is my email
hwomble@austin.rr.comheatherMemberDr Javle Md Anderson Houston Texas
My husband was diagnosed in Nov 2012 Our local oncologist recommended we go to MD Anderson and our goal was liver resection and being told it could not be done now It can! It doesn’t happen to everyone and of course we hope it will be done without any problems. But he will keep fighting! Even when were down he picks us back up…he is very quiet, very calm but we really like him.
He told my husband If you just do chemo you have a year and that is unacceptable and he was ready to fight with us!
Good luck to you,
Heather
heatherMemberOh and about the BRCA 1?? Dr. Javle said this was really really unusual…He also had the gene that is common when someone has cc…….I just can’t remember what it is called. The also checked for lynch syndrome and he doesn’t have that either.
heatherMemberWell not sure…they said Gordon doesnt carry the gene that is in his tumor therefore we dont’ have to have the kids tested. But honestly it sounds like anyone can get this.
When he has surgery they will do some more genetic testing as well. The genetic testing is really confusing to me so I might not be too much help
heatherMemberGreat!! Keep us updated! We will be there at the end of aug and sep…
I know your tired and frustrated but keep on going!! There are alot of things that wouldnt have happened if I just wouldn’t have made that phone call!!
Heather
heatherMemberI meant so say Surgery not chemo….strong for sugery
heatherMemberOh Dorien I have wondered too!! Gordons tumor was 8.5×6.6 when found in Nov 2012. It is all comfy in there and wrapped around the portal vein and we are not sure about lymph nodes I think one lit up and the chemo hopefully killed it. And it is not any where else in his body…they think he has only had it two years. I guess I would think it would have spread even more during that time…
And now here he is no chemo and they;re just wanting him to get strong for chemo and it makes me so nervous that nothing is preventing it growing. It did shrink some with chemo. But the doc said he wasn’t worried about growth withiin 8 weeks before surgery.
So with all that said how is it that this happens to gordon then someone I know has a 2cm tumor and has chemo then goes back and there are tumors all over his liver…..I guess its what is in the tumor maybe that makes the difference??
Gordon had genetic testing and they found the BRAC 1 in his….MD Anderson thought that was interesting…anyone else heard of carrying that gene?
I want a cure!!!! for everyone!!!
heatherMemberI can’t say enough about MD Anderson Houston. We were told by surgeons in austin that there was nothing they could do it was unresectable. Then went to MDA and first was told unresectacle then surgery! So you never know..and even if surgery can’t be done people are doing pretty good with stabalizing the tumor and living a pretty normal life from what Im reading on here! And there are so many things that was brought up to my husband if surgery can’t be done, its not easy but its something. I would encourage you to go to MDA or another large hospital and another opinion. Dr. Javle is my husbands doctor and we really like him! Hang in there!
Heather
heatherMemberNo problem…I thought that was probably what happened!!
I am honestly feeling better thank you! It is a day to day thing.
Dorien I want to keep in touch with you.
Heather
