My sister’s kids are doing ok–Sophia and Sami–ages 8 and 10. I will have them some of the summer. I wish it was different. I wish she was still here–her laugh, her smile. I did not want to grow old without her–my heart cries out for my dear kat. -heatherbless

well- kathy has to go into the hospital now for chemo. The doctors switched her to a new chemo with taxotere and zeloda, because they said that the Gem/and Oxalyplatin was not working. I just hope this works. Lainey, what type of cancer are you dealing with? best to all of you, heather

    Heather,

I lost my Mom to this horrible disease April 3, 2009. She was diagnosed in May of 2008.

When discussing prognosis with my son he replied immediately with the “tagline” I use in my signature. To me it’s the absolute best was to live.

Maybe you will gain some comfort from it.

    Hugs,
    Pam

thanks pam and that is so awesome with the quote. best, heather

Nathalie, good luck at the Mayo. My sister is being treated at duke univeristy. She would love to talk with someone your age when you know more. Please let me know if you are open to that and thanks. Her name is kathy and she would love to speak with somone–she is having the whipple surgery on august 20th and she has the diagnosis of : cancer of the ampulla vater in the early stages. So maybe you both can compare notes. Please let me know if you might want to talk on the phone–I have already spoken with Lainy and she is such a big help. My number is 757-773-5197. Thanks and God bless to you and your family. Love, heather

Thanks for everyone’s responses. I am still kind of confused because I now know that my sister has been diagnosed with: cancer of the ampulla and that seems to connect the bile duct and the pancreas, etc. Please let me know any feedback and thanks.

Loise, thanks for your response–I appreciate it. Please tell me any of your own experience if you will. I am also a breast cancer survivor and hope to help her through all of this. Up until now–I was more concerned about the breast cancer with us and the BRCA 2 positive gene–so I will keep on keeping on. best, heather

lainy–thanks for your response. My sis is currently going in for a surgical consult on Tuesday. I am so concerned about the gravity of this all/symptoms, etc. Please let me know what you think the usual steps of treatment are–I know everyone’s case is different. She is going to Duke and they seem to have a very great program. God Bless to all of us dealing with this, heather
