Thanks for the welcome. I’ve been following the site for months, and have got much from it, but when someone specifically asked for a recommendation on Sloan, I felt compelled to respond.

I’m doing better because my daughter is doing better. She was a newlywed when she got sick and she and her husband were away from each other for months while she was here in NYC for treatment. She has returned home and has resumed her happy, busy life. The challenge now is waiting for the next scan and dealing with the fears and anxieties that entails.

I saw a Pat Summit documentary, and she recommended: “Left foot, right foot, breathe.” Good advice.

As sad as I am that we had to be there, we had a truly outstanding experience at Sloan. My 29 year old daughter had a liver resection and Whipple procedure at Sloan, performed brilliantly by Dr. Peter Kingham, followed by 4 months of GEM/CIS with Dr. Eileen O’Reilly. Dr. O’Reilly is so supportive and patient. She took the time to really know my daughter and listened so carefully. I could never fully express how grateful we are to both doctors, their staffs, and Sloan Kettering in general. I had never heard of cholangiocarcinoma before my daughter was diagnosed, and going through this with your child as the patient is beyond comprehension. Sloan did a tremendous job of explaining every step of the way and helped us to make the most of an unimaginable situation. I couldn’t recommend Sloan more highly.
