    Hi Lisa

I’m sure that was very hard news to hear. I’m also sure no one here cares how many times anyone says something! It just means that you need to talk about it I think. I remember you said you were on a new chemo, and hopefully it will keep things in check as the Gemzar has with your liver.

Sending all positive thoughts and prayers your way tonight Lisa!

    Hi Judy

Your story is also so very similar to mine. A mass (3 cm) was noted in my liver on a gallbladder ultrasound. I had never had any gallbladder problems before this and my surgeon felt they were entirely unrelated. So, an incidental finding as well for me, a very fortunate finding. I had surgery in May 2008 and all else was negative, wide negative margins, negative lymph nodes and a negative PET/CT. All my blood work and markers have always been negative as well. I also had no additional treatment. I did get quite a few opinions and they were all unanimous for no additional treatment and actually pretty adamant in stating that. The medical oncologist that I saw gave me a 70% cure rate, and he’s not known for his optimism! I think it’s an issue of risk versus benefit. But, I still wonder if I should have, despite that. I do go for a CT scan every 3 months and that will be extended to a longer interval after my end of March scan.

You’re so right in saying that it’s a “scary path”. It’s so difficult to learn to live ones life with this. I go back and forth between fear and then confidence that I will be fine…that I’m cured. The one thing I know is that everyone here understands and that it’s OK to say anything here, to ask anything.

Welcome Judy! I am so glad you found us here. I’m so hoping that you will continue to do well and keep reporting good news. We all love to hear good news here!

    Hi Suzanne

Just thinking of you tonight and wishing the very best for your surgery tomorrow! I’m so hoping for good news for you.

You had asked about recovery from liver resection and never having had surgery before I certainly had nothing to compare it to! I was in the hospital 8 days and out of bed the second day after surgery. My blood count was low after surgery so that made it a little difficult with dizziness and all. I went out for dinner (Thai!) the day after I got home from the hospital, to a farmer’s market the second day, and the grocery store the third day, and worked up to walking the dogs a mile (two German Shepherds!) two weeks out. I did consider the recovery really a “full time job”. I worked really hard at taking short walks every two or three hours, taking an hour nap during the morning and in the afternoon, and eating really well (frequent small amounts with a lot of protein).

Know that we’re all sending good wishes, positive thoughts and prayers your way! Please let us know how you’re doing as soon as you’re able!

    Hi Tess

When you first posted this, my first thought was that there was bile in his sweat which was appearing as the yellow discoloration you mentioned. Reading your post this morning that your dad has become jaundiced over the last few days, makes me think that there is bile in his sweat causing this. I think it was just a very early sign that was not yet apparent elsewhere.

In regard to the jaundice that he has recently developed, that you posted about on another thread, I would call the doctor right away and let them know. The catheter could have become dislodged or occluded and they may need to intervene right away.

Please let us know what happens and sending all my best to your dad.

    Hi Jeff

Hope they find something that works for you. A Fentanyl patch sounds like a good thing to try, though I know you’ve tried a lot of things already and maybe have done that. What about steroids e.g. Prednisone? It can be very helpful in bone pain. Something that many people find really helpful when nothing else works is an epidural catheter to infuse a narcotic and an anesthetic…much lower doses can be given through that route with much better pain control. It can be administered using either intermittent doses, or with a pump, giving a continuous infusion.

That’s all I can think of right now…just hoping so much that they can get something that works for you. Keeping you in my prayers Jeff.

I’m so very glad to hear your good news! Two years really is something to be celebrated…I hope you did something special to mark this day.

I know what you mean about posting with good news…I have felt that. But, I think no matter what I was going through, I would be so glad to hear that someone was beating this. So, I wouldn’t feel guilty! It is wonderful to hear and cheered up my whole day after reading your news this morning.

I will have my 10 month CT scan at the end of March and I hope that each of us will have only very good news to report!

I am just so happy for you Sue! Keep the good news coming!!!

Thanks for the update, though I know we were all hoping for better news. I’ll be interested to hear why they think surgery may not be an option given that there isn’t vascular involvement. It does seem as if Cyberknife very well maybe an option, or even combined with a course of external beam radiation prior to the Cyberknife. Are they planning a PET/CT Scan? I know you really have no answers yet and here I am with so many questions!

I’m glad to hear that Kris is able to be up and around a bit and able to drink some things. That’s good news that she seems to be recovering pretty quickly from the surgery.

Just know we’re all sending love, prayers, and positive thoughts to you both. And thanks Hans for keeping us posted…it is much appreciated.

    Hi Hans & Kris

I’m so sorry to hear this news and my heart goes out to you both. Thanks for letting us know Hans. I think Kris is thinking of Gale (gale 918) who had involvement of her inferior vena cava and they were able to resect it. There may be others as well so, as Jeff mentioned, go into the search engine and you may find other posts regarding this.

Know that I’m sending all positive thoughts and prayers your way.

As Darla said, you do have all of us behind you…so many prayers and so many of the most positive of thoughts for the best of all outcomes. That has just got to be a VERY powerful force! I know this must be such a difficult time, but try your best to stay in the very moment your in and not to go to all the “what if” places. I know I’m an optimistic at heart, but I just can’t help but feel that this is just something else (scar tissue, adhesions)…don’t forget ALL of the good news that you’ve had.

Sending all my wishes for very good news and a quick recovery!

I was very sad to hear the news of Peter’s death. I only know of him from his posts but he seemed to be a remarkable man in so many ways. Sending my wishes to his family that they will find peace during their difficult journey.
