    Tom –

My husband, Mike, underwent chemoembolization of the liver in 2/06 and 3/06. His 10 cm tumor as well as some of the smaller ones remained stable until 10/06, at which time there was slight growth. His oncologist continued to monitor the size of the tumors, and they began growing again. In 12/06 he had 4 cycles of gemcitabine and oxalilplatin, and an MRI after this treatment showed it was not successful. He started on 5-FU, but because of other issues, it was discontinued. There is no standard treatment or protocols for this disease, and every patient responds differently to treatments. Talk to your Dad’s oncologist, who I’m sure will guide you. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you fight this disease.

Fabulous idea. My daughter, Staci, who will be 15 next month, has been waiting for this. Mike, my husband and Staci’s Dad died on April 27, 2007.
Thank you for doing this, and may God Bless.

You will never, ever forget your Dad. And why should you? The horrible anguish of loss will ease, and your memories will become sweet and warm and will make you smile. We don’t get over grief…we get through it. Because of our experiences, we are forever changed. Remember the wonderful blessing that your father was not only to you, but to the many people’s lives he touched. He is with you in spirit and always will be, and will live forever in your heart. And he will be waiting for you at the gate of Heaven to welcome you to your eternal home with our Lord and Savior. I am at 10 months post today, and while I still grieve for my wonderful husband, Mike, I am thankful that I had him in my life for 30 years. My thoughts are with you.

May God be with you and give you strength and peace. I wish I could say I didn’t understand, but I do. I lost my husband (age 57) in April to cholangiocarcinoma. We’re all here for you!

We went through a similar situation with Mike. May God be with you and give you peace and strength. Know that all of us on this board love you and Colin. Keep talking to him, holding his hand, whatever is meaningful to you, let him know how much you love him, how blessed you’ve been to have such a beautiful life with him, and when he crosses over, just how much you will miss him. Also remember that it will be very helpful if you give him permission to go when he’s ready, if you haven’t already done that. And, that you will be fine (even though you know that this is the hardest situation you’ve ever endured.) I’m sending you a huge hug, and am here for you.

    Love, Joni

    Dear Ted,

The video tribute to Patty was lovely. She was obviously a warm, wonderful woman who loved life, a good time, and her family and friends. I am so very sorry for your loss, and wish you peace and comfort. My husband, Mike, 57, died seven months ago…with a smile on his face. It is comforting to know that we will see our loved ones again, and also to know their hard-fought battles and suffering have come to an end. Even though it doesn’t seem possible right now, you will get your arms around the anguish and grief that comes with losing a spouse, and you will incorporate all of those lovely memories of your years with Patty, and her passing, into your life. And you will move on. Please know that you have the love, friendship and support of all of us touched by cholangiocarcinoma. Whatever we can do for you to ease your pain, we will.

    Joni
